Thanks for sharing that Rhonda, that was one of my
questions.
I wondered if everyone who worked there REALLY knew
how to apply BE, etc...
Actually, when I finally get to call :0) I was
thinking of asking how long the employee has been
working there.
Knowing my luck I'd get the girl who's been there a

I'm on the fence about the Dream set. I think I'm going to wait and
try to get the Blendable Watercolor kit that they'll have on the
anniversary show.
I've got a boatload of goodies coming from Lisa in the next few days
and I'm really excited about getting those! I'll just pile my goodies
in my travel bag and take them all with me to DC so I can play with
them at the hotel!
I've got a serious wish list started for the BE Boutique. Good thing

I've been on a love story movie kind of kick lately. Chocolat has
been on my list of movies to see and I finally got to see it on A&E
this afternoon. I'm going to Barnes & Noble tomorrow to see if they
have the book.
I have to say that I have enjoyed this list so much more than any of
the others that I'm on. I post a lot on Delphi, but I still don't
feel like I'm part of their little "family". I don't know how long
you have to hang out there and post away before they see you as
something more than an interloper who has invaded their space. I do
love Tiffany's posts there, though. She has some of the best makeup
advice. I guess she would since she's a pro makeup artist.
Lisa has really done her best to make this a place where we all feel
so accepted and loved. I'm in here so much more than I have ever been
in any other group.

Be picky about who does your makeover

2008-05-29 10:52:56

I do give one word of caution when you get makeover/unders. It REALLY depends on who you get to do the makeup I think. I was fortunate and had a great gal. My oldest daughter had a younger lady (closer to 18) who did just the bare minimum that she had to do to be considered passing. They give you a sheet that lists all the colors that they use on you. At the bottom of the sheet is a little eye diagram that they can go over it for you with the colors they use on your eyes and where they used them. My lady did that and we had to ask my daughter's lady to come back and do it. We also had to ask her to fill in some of the lines on the sheet as to what color she used where. She was finished with my daughter I would say a good 10 minutes before I was done with mine. And, my daughter looks like she is 18 so it isn't as if it appeared that I brought a little kid in that wasn't serious about makeup.

Anyway, my younger daughter they had another girl (again, closer to 18) help figure out her foundation color. That's all we wanted with her. My younger daughter has a much darker complexion than my older daughter. But, at the end of the visit I learned that somehow between the two young employees they ended up figuring my older daughter with a foundation much darker than my younger daughter. It didn't add up at all.

So, basically we're going to need to order some of the stuff my older daughter had and we'll see how it looks on my younger daughter and go from there. I don't know quite how to word it nicely but I would almost request a more mature employee to help you. If you go to Chicago ask for Kate....she works weekends! :-)

re: I forgot my daughter's stuff

2008-05-27 00:45:32

I didn't mention my daughter's colors. Again, she is biracial, so she has a carmel-like complexion. They ended up putting medium tan foundation on her. On her eyes they went with joy on her lid, here kitty in the crease, highlighted with vanilla sugar under the brow, and used here kitty foiled as a liner.

I am going to try and put pictures on the site later. Not sure how they turned out with my new camera. I haven't quite had time to figure out the thing.

The other really cool thing was that I told the lady who did my makeup about using visine to foil with because you can control the flow so well. She said, "That's a perfect idea. Wow!" So, whoever came up with that you deserve a pat on the back! :-)

Rhonda

re: I went to the Chicago BE store today!!!

2008-05-26 16:53:44

Wow....my husband has made fun of me all afternoon because I have been so excited after my visit to the BE store at Woodfield Mall.

The lady who did my makeover/under was really nice and extremely helpful. She was willing to spend time with me and help me locate many of the colors I had on my list that I wanted to see in person. Basically, I think it boils down to you almost can't go wrong with any eye color (or liner) that you pick. Honestly! I was amazed!!

You walk in and they have like an island in the center of the store. On top of it are about 12 trays of all the eye, blush, brow, and face colors. Each tray has a color theme to it...blues and purples, greens and grays, etc. There were like 15 colors on each tray with all the lids off. It felt like walking into a candy store and the owner says go for it. [INLINE]

My makeover went much quicker than I expected. I am a 1.0 on the foundation (I bought some - interesting they said the foundation has an expiration because it has the SPF in it - the other mineral products do not have an expiration). Man, I hate being so pale. But, for a tan (I bought the faux tan) she said just to add some warmth and not worry about mixing it with another foundation color.

She used on me: sunshine, purrfect, mambo, and true gold. I NEVER EVER would have thought I would look decent let alone good in the warmer shades. My husband even said I look better than I normally do. I couldn't get too mad at him in this instance. :-)

I think I did pretty good. I got out of there with a foundation, a brow kit (which also was lighter than I thought I'd need), a brushless mascara, faux tan, and the blendable eye collection with Vine, Gold Leaf, and Foliage. Not bad for someone who wasn't planning on buying anything. :-) My daughter talked me into a lip gloss kit too. And, I got the eye shadow for Lisa. My final bill was around $190. Thank God part of that is Lisa's and my daughter's!

I didn't buy the Goddess Kit and now I'm kicking my butt. I loved all the colors in it but I hated to add another thing on. My husband came back just as I was hitting the cash register. :-( Are these available anywhere else? I didn't see it on QVC's site and the ones I saw on eBay were just samples, not the full size.

Sorry I was so wordy but my husband just didn't get my excitement. Man, I have so many things on my wish list now it isn't funny. And now I have no money to play with for awhile.

Seriously though, the biggest thing I learned today was not to be afraid of any of the colors. Even if they look really bright or really dark. You can work with them by blending them on your eyelids or mixing them together beforehand. Now I can't imagine not being able to make all the colors work after some blending and mixing. It is only limited by your imagination - and your pocketbook! LOL

Donna,

If you skin is combination; meaning normal to oily, that would be the seaweed line. If it's normal to dry combination, it would be grapeseed. Tea Tree is for oily/blemished skin and soy & calendula is for dry/sensitive skin. I hope this helps you. If you are thinking of purchasing an entire line, don't purchase at the store or website, as it will be full price. At Home Consultants can discount the entire line for 15% off. If interested in knowing what's in the whole let, let me know. Thanks

wait until Monday when he's got the studio set up for a portrait shoot

the before and after folder. I also want one of my hair in the sun.
Henry says that you really see the two colours better in the sun
light, that the violet shows through the red more in the sun. It's
odd, but he says that the red doesn't look as intense in the sun. I
guess I'll have to wait until he gets the photos taken. *grins*

i don't want to be tan when i go there because i want them to help me figure out what foundation color i should go with on normal days. then if they want to put some faux tan on me and match that too, i wouldn't complain. :-)

i've tried exfoliating my entire body. i still have some on my hands and feet. any suggestions on how to get it off even more? i can't wear sandals with the way my feet look and we finally have some decent sandal-wearing weather here.

LMBO! Man, does that bring back some high school memories! Ha ha!! I
wore blue mascara when I was in high school for a year or two but that
was it. I did try purple back then too but it didn't show up too well
on my lashes. The blue was much more noticeable in the sun. But sadly

2008-05-17 08:41:37

OK...I'm just going to have to go on the wagon for a bit (now that I have placed an order w/ Lisa!).

I have another hobby, cross stitching, and between that one and this one, I have to behave for a bit now! I have spent soooo much in the last 6 months that it isn't funny! Now I have eyebrow stencils coming, so had to get the brow kit from QVC, oh and while I was at it, I bought a lipstick and lipliner, then there is all the random runs to the BE store with Mom, because she wants to have a looksee at something....I think I had better behave for a bit before hubby budgets me. (It's worse when he does that than when I do it!)

So there...I am officially on the wagon...until the QVC show on 4/29 that is!

2008-05-16 19:52:56

Hmmm...I'll have to see if we have a Body Shop here....(Manda, do we? I'm at work, no time to look)! As for the BF finishing powder...I haven't tried it, but my mom has and she LOVES it. Likes it better than mineral veil. Now as soon as she gets her OWN paypal account set up and verified she can order from Lisa herself! Hahaha.

Hugs,
Donna
Jill Nellis <gjnellis@...

Michelle,

Good to hear you like it as well. Some people dont live near a store, so they purchase through me. Youre lucky to be so close to a store. Also, the bottle is huge 8.4 oz so it lasts a long time.

Anyone here use the bismuth free finishing powder? If so, how is it different from Mineral Veil and do you like it better?

Jill

Re: JADE . . . Eye shadow recommendations

2008-05-16 10:12:56

Hi Jade. Pinks, huh? I've never tried any type of pink before. I used
to think it was too girlie of a color for me - I was a totally tomboy
in high school ~ ha ha!! But I'm up for anything nowadays! LOL!! I'll
look up those colors you recommended and give some a try. And I love
the color green too so I'm definitely going to try some of those as
well! Thanks again Jade!

Re: [naturallyflawless] Eye shadow recommendations

Pinks!! Try anything with pink. You and I sound really similar in coloring and they look really great on me. Some of my favorites are True, Nude Beach, Bare Skin, Giggle, and most especially Grace. Also greens look good. My favorites are Soiree and Vine.

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if I could get some eye shadow color recommendations
from people. I used to just wear browns for my shadow but was thinking
of being brave and trying some samples of actual color (eekk!). But I'm
not sure what colors might look good. My eyes are a light brown with a
little bit of gold in them, I'm a medium skin tone, and my hair is
light brown. I'd love to hear what you guys think. Thanks!

I was on a very tight time budget so I had my daughter get the make under. They did both of us in PA. They were friendly. Nice very helpful and wow we saw several make unders that were increadable. They really know what they are doing. We could not believe the difference they made in some of the women. I most warn you it is a very tiny store!!!!!!! but well worth it. they made my 14 look so beautiful but stillyoung and natural. When she went back to school everyone wanted to know about her make up.

have fun. also I am interested in some soiree either 1/2 jar with someone or a sample. I do not think any one can ever use a full jar.

The sephora store in the woodfield mall is right across from the BE store. I was in such a hurry that I did not go to sephora. By the way the staff at this BE store were great. We had driven to PA to go to the king of prussia BE store and it was a horrible experience. I wear 1.2 and 2 mixed. They put 5.2 on me It was gross. I have some freckles and they made my whole face as dark as the freckles. My daughter wears 3 (now) but this was her first time and they used 1 on her. She looked like a ghost or like she had flour all over her face. It was my first trip to a BE store and we were very disapointed.

Re: [naturallyflawless] eyebrow stencils

2008-05-12 10:27:11

Jenn,

Those are the exact ones I got. Yes, should be able to use them.

I also grew up in the era of Brooke Shields with the big, bushy eyebrows au natural. The stencil at the very bottom is wider than the others so you don't tweeze as much away. I started with that one and I figure as I get more comfortable seeing them groomed I may inch my way up to the next one which is a bit thinner.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes if you do it!

Rhonda
Jennifer Asher <jasher8@...

Does anyone use these?

I have Brooke Shields eyebrows!

I have never tried to shape them before because I was afraid I would ruin them.

I want to try though.

Think I could use these:

eye make up remover

Hi I found the almay non oily eye make up remover pads. they also had it as a lotion that you use on cotton balls (less expenive). I was wondering if anyone has tried that? also this may so stupid so please forgive me but when does everybody use those? before or after they wash their face? I tried to remove my eyemake up first and then wash my face and I still had the black mascara under my eyes. I stopped using the Mary Kay stuff because if I used it after washing my face it left reside around my eyes that I had to wash off before I could apply make up

Joyce Young <silverwing@...

Hi everyone.

I've only posted a couple of times, but have been reading all of your posts and getting soooo much info. Anyway I got my first order of BE the other day and have tried it out. I am pleased with the results. DH came home the first day and said (because he knew what I had ordered) that it did not look like I had make up on but that I looked fantastic. So I figure this is a good thing. Well tonite I had to go to a board of directors meeting for our HOA and a couple of ladies came up to me and asked if I had colored my hair, lost weight, etc. Well neither of those things has happened yet, but I know it is because I look so much better and feel better about me with these products. My skin seems to glow!

I can't help gushing to all of you since I am sure you can understand what I am experiencing. Anyway, I am hooked and now going to order more.

I really do appreciate all the info I am getting from all of you.

Well time to get another wish list together.

Thanks

yeah, when you told that i immediately made a mental note to call sephora's before we get there. i'm still thrilled to go to BE but if i don't need to try to find sephora's at the mall that i'm not familiar with i'm not going to the effort.

I recently bought a case and organized my BE. It took so much time to
label everything and get it all together. Since DH doesnt get it, I
thought I would share with you all. The file is Michelles BE.

false eyelashes

oh no, i hate to pluck other people's eyebrows. i'm afraid i'm going to accidentally grab their skin too. i hate causing people pain!

rhonda
Donna Conner <angel91805@...

LOL...it is always easier plucking someone else...i.e. it doesn't hurt you! I think I'm going to get some baby orajel and try using that. And I'll do it on a Friday night or Saturday...then if I get red or screw it up...I have a few days to fix it! ROFL.

Donna
Rhonda Powell <rhonda_k_powell@...

i really liked the eyebrow stencil and was amazed at how much it improved my look. i even got brave and did my daughter. she loved it. it is much easier to do it on someone else. at least the coloring in part so you can make sure they're even. if she would have felt comfortable plucking them herself i would have gladly let her do that part.

Vanessa

Hey Vanessa,
I love curly hair. I bet it looks awesome.
I tried to post photo of what I was going to have
done, in a response to Bliss, but I think it got lost
somewhere in space. lol.
My hair's wavey, and really curly in spots. It looks
good on day 1 but after that it's too much up-keep.
I find it easier to straighten it.. it'll last if it's
not too humid. :0) Let's just say come summer it's up
most of the time, just so I don't have to deal with
it.
Yet one more reason that I love winter.
Have a great night.
Mich

Re: Pictures of my BE

You are sooooo much more organized than I am! My bathroom vanity is
such a mess! I did just get an awesome travel case by Victoria's
Secret that is like the BE one. Paid $15 for it has built in pockets
for your brushes. I like this one better than the BE one that I got.
The mirror was broken in the BE one anyway. I may see if I can get a
new piece of mirrored glass cut for it.
I so need to get organized!!

Re: [naturallyflawless] Lip Balm????

Hi Dawn! I am offering custom made lip balms on the site. :) You can get any color you want on the whole site. They're .15 oz and they come in little twist bottom tubes. I was trying to make up a few ahead of time making sure I have my measurements right, etc and I was asking for color suggestions. ;) Thanks, Lisa :)

Discontinued colours. .

2008-05-01 20:21:04

that sounds good. what i did was go to the beaddicts.com website, click on eye colors, and then did a search for the word discontinued. there are about 10 or so. most were warm colors, which would look horid on me.

rhonda
Bliss & Henry <bliss_n_henry@...

Okay, make a list of discontinued colours that you all want and next
Thursday when I am in Atlanta, I'll see how many I can pick up there.
If Rhonda can't get them on her trip to BE, then I'll be your back up.

yeah, i'd be happy to. i'll add that to my list of things to check out.

glad i'm not buying anything. *laugh* my personal list is growing quite quickly! my husband will be bored to tears but if he isn't smart enough to know to stick around the store with me anyway then i'm not going to forewarn him. :-)

Lisa Moore <lexismommy23@...

Hi Rhonda! Can you do me a huge favor?? Can you see if they have any Soiree? Pretty please! Thanks, Lisa :)

i called and checked to see if the BE store has any of the discontinued colors that i wanted. they have two eclipses left and are holding them for me.

i only need one. does anybody want the other one? the liners are $12.
