Re: [naturallyflawless] MICH -- flocked sponge

2007-08-31 05:35:22

I'm incredibly fair skinned & have really dark circles
and some red scarring.
I start with applying primer, then use my flocked
sponge, dry, to apply a layer of Bisque and then Well
Rested. Top with foundation and finish the rest of my
face and it looks great! It covers everything SO well.
If I have a really bad blemish; I do the same as
above. But before putting on my foundation, I wet the
tip of the sponge, and in the lid of the Well Rested,I
make a paste of WR and Visine and dab at the spot
trying to blend out the edges. I let that dry and then
put on my foundation. (blending a little more if
needed.)
I've never been able to conceal my dark circles. I've
tried drugstore brands of cosmetics all the way up to
using Dermablend, but everything left me looking cakey
or orangish. BE is awesome!!
Hope this helps. =0)

It's on at 8pm EST too. :) I'm never good at figuring out my time by looking at the other time zones, LOL.

There is only one new item. . . .

BE 7pc Deluxe Spring Collection

item # A60637

price $75.00

I don't have a description, but I know the eye colors are pink and the blush is Sorbet (not new color, also a pink shade). The Today's Special Value has sold out today, so the kit may be on a One Time Only tonight which means that it would be cheaper I believe. So keep your eyes open. :) Thanks, Lisa

MICH -- flocked sponge

2007-08-30 18:28:52

Hey Mich! What do you use your flocked sponge for? I think a lot of people under-rate this cheap little tool. :) Maybe we all started sharing our experience with them, others will give them a try. ;) Thanks, Lisa

Hey Victoria =0)
I was thinking about this the other day as well..
wondering if I had the right amount? I hate having to
wash out the shadow brushes so often. (too many colors
to choose from!) =0)
To answer your question; I have 2 for foundations, a
concealer, a blush, a clear radiance/gossamer brush, a
mineral veil, and a dispensing brush.. then of course
there are the 4 shadow and 3 liner brushes. I think
the most important tool in my bag is my flocked sponge
though. I just love that thing!

RE: BE brushes

2007-08-30 11:57:27

Since I've only been using BE 3-4 weeks, I only have the kabuki,
flawless face, tappered blush, angled face, doubel ended eye shadow,
2 eyeliner brushes,a flat head shadow brush, a fat round shadow
brush, eyebrow brush, another eyeshadow brush, 2 lip brushes, small
conceiler brush and I also got the eyelash comb. I got my 12 year
old daughter the Flawless face, and I have ordered some brushes from
Lisa this weekend, but I don't remember which ones, for my daughter.

Re: KERI - Mascara Help!

2007-08-29 05:56:21

Not that they know everything, but 2 weeks ago on "The View" they had a woman
who
was explaining that you don't need to spend a fortune on "Makeup Counter
Purchase"
rather, you could buy things at your local drug store that were just as good.
She did
a short stint on Mascara, these were her recommendations:
Mascaras
Revlon Fabulash
Maybelline Unstoppable
Almay Intense i-Color
Here was the blurb about her, and the segment, on theview website:
Then beauty expert Paula Begoun told us we can stop spending fortune on beauty
products found at department stores and salons because the items found at your
local pharmacy are just as good and cost a whole lot less. Below you will find a
list of
products featured on today's show. For more beauty advice, please refer to
Paula's
books Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter or Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care
Products Without Me.
Maybe it will help,

I wear contacts too and have worn both Maybelline
Great Lash and Rimmel's Extreme Definition (both
waterproof) for months now with no problems.
I tried to use L'Oreal Double Extend for awhile, but

I've had pretty good luck with the one's I'm using now

KERI - Mascara Help!

2007-08-28 16:15:34

Hi Keri! Maybelline has a new mascara out that doesn't budge at all. It's called Unstoppable! My waterproof mascaras still seem to smudge under my eyes, but not this one. It was around $7 at Walgreens. Hope this helps. ;) Thanks, Lisa
Keri Bloomer <keribloomer@...

re: mascara

2007-08-28 14:01:58

I wish I could help, but I don't wear contacts. When you say it gets
in your eyes, do you mean the mascara flakes off and gets in your
eyes, or do you accidentally hit the eye with the brush?

Mascara Help!

2007-08-28 06:56:10

Hi Ladies,

Perhaps I'm trying to do too much at once! I decided to start wearing make-up in December and then I decided to try contacts for the first time in January. I bought what I thought was WAY too expensive mascara at Sephora and I loved it. When I needed new mascara I decided to try L'Oreal. I found that it was getting on my contacts (I don't understand how) and screwing up my vision. I really thought mascara was mascara. Does any one have recommendations for contact lense wearers or should I just shell out the BIG bucks for the high end mascaras? Thanks, Keri

Aveeno

2007-08-27 21:42:29

Hey Myra! I'm an Aveeno user too! I use the Balancing Bar with collideal oatmeal both AM and PM. I also use 2.5% BP after washing my face. I REALLY need a mousturizer b/c my skin is a bit dry. I have very sensitive combination skin and I don't use a mousturizer now b/c they have all broke me out. I was wondering if you might have some input on using the Daily Mousturizing Lotion on my face?? Did you learn anything from the studies that said to only use facial lotions on the face or anything? I have had such good luck with the oatmeal bar, I thought it'd be smart to try an oatmeal lotion and the only product that has the collideal oatmeal is the Daily Mousturizing Lotion. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Lisa :)

Hi Michelle,
I just wanted to add a comment to Jade's response (which was
excellent) in regards to skin care regimens. Philosophy is a
wonderful product line but can be a bit pricey so if money is a
deciding factor you might want to first try some over the counter non-
comedogenic (won't clog pores- the label should specifically
state "non-comedogenic") cleansers. I work in the pharmaceutical
research field and do mostly dermatology research. I've worked on
several acne studies and every Dermatologist I've worked with has
recommended the following four over the counter products as good
basic skin cleasers (if acne is becoming a problem be sure that you
pick a product that has salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as an
ingredient): Aveeno, Cetaphil, Dove and Neutrogena. You should also
keep in mind that a good moisturizer with sunscreen should also be
used, regardless if you have oily, dry, or combination skin. Each of
those lines also make good moisturizers. As for myself I'm partial
to Aveeno's Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser as it's strong enough
to clean my excess oil from my face but gentle enough that my face
doesn't turn red after using it. Aveeno's products are made with soy
extracts too which are very healthy for your skin.
I second Jade's comments about BE as well. I've been using it since
June and I will never use another make-up brand. My skin looks
healthy, glows and most of all is completely natural. Unless i'm
wearing eye shadows (and I absolutely LOVE playing with all the BE
eye colors- Lisa sells sample sizes at naturallyflawless.com which
makes it economical and easy to play around with colors) you would
never know I was wearing make-up. I truly believe you will enjoy BE
as much as all of us here have.
Have fun and good luck!

MICHELLE - questions....

2007-08-27 16:32:05

Hey Michelle! I'm so sorry, some how I missed your post and Jade's. I agree with Jade that you sound like a cool tone. I would suggest trying #3 Medium and #1 Fair. I doubt you are as fair as #1 Fair, but you can use it to mix with #3 Medium if #3 alone is too dark.

I agree with both Jade and Myra that BE will just make you look naturally beautiful. It doesn't give you that made up look at all. Even the eye and cheek colors are more sheer and just look gorgeous on.

I'm with Myra I LOVE Aveeno products! They are more 'natural' than the rest of the drugstore brands and they work wonderfully! I use the Balancing bar with collideal oatmeal. It's only around $3 a bar and it lasts about 3 months. This bar is the best thing I have found for my sensitive acne-prone skin. It keeps me clear and removes ever bit of my makeup. If you have any other questions at all, just ask. Thanks, Lisa :)

Hello,
i'm new to the group and have a few questions. I saw the infomercial
and really like the look of this makeup. Problem, i never wear
makeup, never even really experimented much. my husband hates it. i
even went to a makeup counter and got my face "done" and i just looked
like a cheap hooker! i never thought it was for me. but i am 38 and
have freckles, they aren't real dark but it's annoying. and lately
i've been breaking out alot. i just don't like how my skin looks(yep,
getting older) would like to do something about it. but afraid to try
anything and know next to nothing. my problem: i can't tell what my
skin tone is. my veins look bluish, i have brown hair(that gets
reddish tints from the sun), i have blue eyes. i look terrible in
pinks and oranges, browns, Yuck! i wear alot of green(sage or a few
shades darker). i look good in true red(no orangey reds). i look good
in most blues and golden yellows. i never wear white(can't keep in
clean). i look good in rose colors. i do ok in black but it's not my
favorite color to wear. look good in purples too. anyone got any
advice for me. oh, my skin is light tone, i do tan easy but don't have
the patience for tanning. normally if i burn, it turns tan within 24
hours and i don't normally burn easy. Help! i'd love to try this stuff
but dont' know what to get.

Re: [naturallyflawless] questions....

2007-08-26 00:34:27

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the group! The girls here are great and Lisa is a great source to try the products without having to make a large financial commitment to something you don't know if you'll like or not.

First of all, it'd be pretty darn hard to look like a hooker with BE! =0) That's the good news. The less good news is that it really won't cover freckly type spots (at least with me it doesn't, but that's not my goal). BE is "you" kicked up a notch. It is a very natural makeup and it's not a mask like the makeup you've used in the past.

It sounds like you are cool toned, but Lisa is the expert at helping people pick the right shades for them. =0) As far as the breakouts, you may want to switch to a better skincare routine too. Most of the girls on the group love Philosophy products. I use and love them myself and they have really helped me with my skin issues in the amount of time I've used them (smoother surface, less breakouts, more even skin tone). My husband isn't one for me looking all made up either, but BE is so natural that you really don't look like you're wearing anything.
I hope you order some samples and try it out. It's truly an amazing product. =0)

Re: [naturallyflawless] Large Pores

2007-08-25 08:31:42

Hi Bonnie! Do you use any primers? Sometimes a silicon based primer helps to fill in pores before applying your makeup. Also which product did you try to "pack" into the pores? The Mineral Veil really is the best product to use for this. Try taking a flocked sponge or taklon type brush and laying the Mineral Veil on top of the areas you are referring to. Then just apply your foundation and the rest of the products as usual. Give it a try and let me know if you need more help. Thanks, Lisa :)

re: almost ready

I love the mineral viel and have normal skin. I decided I love the
BE line so I have invested in the BE brushes. The flawless face brush
is a good one to get to see if you like the BE brushes, it is
versatile for foundation, blush or clear radiance.

RE: [naturallyflawless] Almost ready!

2007-08-24 21:46:33

Now do you all think this is a good start? I also wondered if I need
a separate brush for everything??
I think it's a great start :)
I don't use mineral veil but I have skin on the dry side.
I use a big face brush I got from CVS for like 5 bucks for my
foundation, then I use the flawless face brush for the clear
radiance,blush,or any other face color.
I bought some artist brushes from Wal Mart and they work great for lining!
You can get a big pack of different sized taklon brushes for about 8 bucks.

Re: Large Pores

2007-08-24 06:00:42

Hi Bonnie. I have the same problem, and I have tried all
the "tricks". I have to use a liquid foundation under my eyes and
nose. I really like Clinique Workout Makeup for this. I leave the
under eyes alone, but I can add BE color to my nose after the other
foundation. I tried using BE only over a primer a few ays ago, just
to make sure nothing had changed...but I just can't do it.
I know some other gals have had success using a flocked sponge and
some other things, but it doesn't work for me.
Also, when you first put BE on in the morning and look close in the
mirror, it looks like your lines jump out at you...but it settles in
and looks better in a bit. Plus, no one else should be that close!
Good luck, and keep trying...you will love it!

Hey V! All of those things (name brand tennies, dvd's, beanies, etc) are all successful on ebay it seems. :) Even your clothing that you are done wearing would probably be successful. Ebay is such a large market, that there is just about room for anything! Thanks, Lisa

I was thinking of selling my PS2 and games, but it's the older hard

LOOOOONG explanation of running an ebay business . . ...

2007-08-22 18:19:19

Hey Wendy! It's hard to choose a product. :) Bare Minerals was the third product I tried to sell. I started with my daughter's clothing, then baby hair bows, now Bare Minerals. All were successful, but I just had to find the right one for me. ;) It tends to take a lot of trial and error. Thanks, Lisa
Wendy <winnypooh@...

That's exactly my problem, and my point in the business market, I haven't decided what to
sell. I can't tell you the number of times I've said to my husband, "we need to figure out
what we are going to sell, get at a good rate, and get our business started so we can quit
our day jobs". :)

Re: [naturallyflawless] Wow........

Thanks for sharing, Leslie! Didn't that just feel wonderful?? I started wearing BE about 7 months ago, and no one seemed to notice! I was sort of bummed about it, but I started using BE while I was out of work for 3 weeks after a surgery. Today at lunch, our department went out for a birthday. I mentioned that my son and I went to the 'makeup store' last night. Both of the ladies I was sitting with just looked at me. And then in unison, both said..."but you don't wear makeup!" I think that is the best BE compliment I have received. And now one of the ladies is chomping at the bit to go and get a makeunder! And was thrilled to hear about Lisa's website! Anyone else want to share?

Hugs,

Donna
chanel4kiddos <chanel4kiddos@...

You all know I love my BE. I have been using it now for about a week maybe a bit longer. I'm not bragging but I think I have told you all that I have always had pretty good skin. Even though BE feels good and I can tell the difference, I did not think anyone else could really tell the difference. Today when I dropped my daughter off to school one of the other moms came up to me and said that my skin looked so good, and "what kind of makeup was I using, BE?" LOL! Now, how in the world did she know that I was using BE! It really threw me
for a loop! I'm tickled that she noticed!!! Just thought I would share...:O)

I was thinking of selling my PS2 and games, but it's the older hard

Hi Donna! That sounds like soo much fun! I'm so jealous of you girls that get to go the store! I just want to see it. :) Thanks for sharing your trip. Thanks, Lisa :)
Donna Conner <angel91805@...

Woo....I got home a little bit ago from the BE store. (Which, by the way, is smaller than my dining room!!!) I had my little one in tow....and they have EVERY color out in for little fingers to touch. I was the only one in the shop and I swear all three ladies zeroed in on the 6 yr old with busy hands! LOL. Of course, he wanted to touch and try everything! LOL. They did compliment us when we left since he was good and didn't touch any of the minerals. He did get a kick out of the tester bottles of perfume though! ROFL!

Anywho...when I walked in, and the one lady asked me if she could help me, I told her "I came for three things, and I don't want to look around or I will want to buy everything! Here's my credit card." But I wanted to share....the expandable travel bag....AWESOME! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. On my bathroom counter, I have my foundation and veil, well rested, glee, bisque, clear radiance, 3 eyeshadows, 3 liner shadows, and the five colors from the Goddess collection. All full size jars. (All others are in the cabinet in a train case.) I have them all set up on a tiered spice shelf that someone suggested. Would you believe that ALL that, plus 7 or so brushes and my mascara, lipsticks and glosses all fit in that case???? Now I can just zip it up and slide it in the drawer. If I have to dash around to leave somewhere I can just grab the whole thing! I think I'll have to get a different brush for my veil...it is too long for the case. Drat. LOL. I also got the
refillable compact....finally...I can touch up the veil at work! LOL. One little eyeshadow color (my favorite, Bare Skin), rounded out the trip. But oh....those perfumes sure were lovely! LOL. Guess where I'm sending hubby for Valentine's day? I made sure my son could remember and recite the scents I like before we left the store! LOL

Just wanted to share!

I was wondering if I could borrow someone's nose?!

I have some samples of dupes of all the graces but since I've not smelled the originals I need someone to sniff them to see if they are true?

I would send you a cotton swap sniffie in a plastic baggie for you to sniff and then if they are true I'll make a little batch of soap and then send you a sliver of that to sniff?

I could probably use 2 people if anyone would do that for me?I would greatly appreciate it!

It's the same reason they weigh parrots in grams instead of ounces -- it
allows for a more detailed and accurate measurement with you're dealing

If it were *me* I'd put a price on them (what you want for them) and offer them as a lot to whatever groups you belong to. If that doesn't work, I'd put them on eBay and let the bidders have a field day. Speaking of which, if anyone is interested, I have the following products available. Prices include shipping. Just email me privately if you see anything you want and I'm willing to take offers. It's going to go up on ebay tomorrow night, I just have to get around to putting them up there but if I can find homes for them here, I thought I'd try. dry lined with Hottie and brushed a little Hottie in the outer half of my crease

dry brushed Gold Leaf under brow bone very very lightly

totally off topic

2007-08-09 01:42:01

Hey guys.
I was wondering if anyone's been to the Mall of
America?
One of my friends and I have decided our families need
to miss us for awhile :) and are going to make a
trip there sometime in the next few months.
I just checked out the website and there are SOOO many
shops!!! It's almost overwhelming as I've never even
heard of a lot of them.
Do any of you have any favorites that I shouldn't
miss?
(besides the BE store of course.. that one will be
first AND last on my list! just in case I missed
something the first time through) LOL
Can you tell I'm just a little excited about this!?!
Thanks for the help!
Have a great day!!

Different foundation colors

2007-08-09 00:48:56

Something really strange happened today. I received my automated mail shipment of my BE foundations and mineral veil from Bare Escentuals this morning. When I compared the mineral veils and foundations to the ones I already had, all of them were a different color. The mineral veil was several shades darker than the one I had and my #1 Fair was also darker. Have any of you ever noticed this? Will the colors or hues always be different? It almost makes me think that maybe I have selected the wrong shades. Help!!!!

These are the two that I use.
I have a little oil in the T zone as well, but haven't
had any trouble with these..even in the summer.
I couldn't find The Ice Cream Man on the Phil. website
either, but that could be because I had 4 kids yelling
in my ear while I was doing it too. :0)
I did find this on the drugstore.com website though.

Philosophy questions

2007-08-08 06:01:15

I looked up the Present and the Ice-cream man. The Present has a
present powder and a present clear make-up. There was no ice-cream man
listed. For those of you that use this which one of the Presents do
you use? I was confused by the descriptions of these products. I do
tend to have a little oil in the T-zone but that is all.
I'm also trying to win a small Smashbox photo finish on e-bay. I could
not find a small size at Sephora and I don't want to invest in it till
I know what it does on my skin.
Thanks,
Leslie

Hi,
About the primers, I go back and forth between The Ice
Cream Man and The Present.
I think I like the Present better of the two, but they
both work great for me and I work out wearing it all
the time.
Jade's suggestion was great, if you can take a towel
with you to blot your face it helps a lot. Working out
is Sooooo not glamorous. :0)

No problem Leslie! I'll answer a million more if need be. ;) I'm so glad you are lovin' your BE! Isn't it neat how it looks better the longer you wear it! I just think that is one of the neatest things about mineral makeup! I wish I had found this stuff a decade ago LOL! Thanks, Lisa :)

I LOVE my BE! So far, except for the sweat or water-proof probems, it
has looked awsome. I have not even had to touch it up as much as I
have other make-ups. Thanks to all who have answered my many
questions and esp. Lisa....she has taken up a lot of time helping me.

Jade & Leslie -- eye colors and questions

2007-08-07 17:43:47

Hi Jade! I'm no expert, LOL. Thanks for jumping in since it takes me a little longer to get back these days. :)

Leslie - Jade gave you great color descriptions, I'll give you the links to see the pictures on the website. :) Trust is in the Goddess kit on the Specials page . . . in the picture it's the second one from the left. . .

http://www.naturallyflawless.com/naturally_flawless_specials.htm

Purrfect is on the glimmers page. I have green eyes (more of a teal green) with a slight goldish brown ring around the pupil and this is one of my all-time favorite colors! Here's the link to it . . . it's about in the middle under Moonstruck. . . .

http://www.naturallyflawless.com/naturally_flawless_eyes.htm

Mossy is a similar color in the bismuth-free line, just in case you are taking advantage of that special and need more colors. ;) It's in the 5th row from the bottom, the very first one in the row . . .

http://www.naturallyflawless.com/naturally_flawless_Bismuth-freeshadows.htm

Oh I sent you a direct email regarding the primers. There are quite a few out there. Jade's advice on blotting is great though! ;) The Philosophy Ice Cream Man and Present primers use to be really popular around here. Did anyone notice them keeping the makeup on while sweating? Smashbox is the new hit on here and two of the girls I know just bought some, so they will have to post more reviews about it. :) Just let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Lisa =)
Jade <rebekahn@...

I'm sure Lisa will be on later today with her expert advise, but in the meantime thought I'd chip in. Trust is a light pink with gold undertones. Purrfect is a pretty medium green with gold undertones.

I don't have problems with BE whenI sweat at all. When you do sweat, make sure you are blotting (ie. taking a kleenex or whatever and pushing it on your face and not moving it around). When you 'wipe' of course you are going to wipe the makeup right off. There is no way to make it more waterproof but you can try priming, that may make it stick around longer. I sweat a lot and I blot and don't wipe and it's no problem all day. My other thought is that if you can see where the makeup has wiped off that you are you using waaay too much or that it's the wrong color. The amont you should be using is about the size (width and everything) of a dime for your whole face.

Hope this helps.

Also, does anyone have any problems with their BE when they sweat? My

any way to make the make-up more "water-proof"?
Thanks,
Leslie

Re: eye colors and questions(Jade)

2007-08-06 08:01:23

Thanks for the help with the colors. Where I saw my make-up had come
off was right at the cheek area where my blush was also. I did not
wipe it at all...did not have a chance so the sweat just rolled down
my face and took off all of my make-up in that area, so the way I knew
the make-up had come off was b/c of where my blush was.
Any suggestions on a primer?

Re: [naturallyflawless] bismuth

2007-08-04 18:47:39

Hi there! Welcome to the group!! ;) Bare Escentuals and Bare Minerals are the same thing. The bismuth-free line is my personal line, Naturally Flawless is the name brand.

I am not familar with Merle Norman's shades. Is that a shade for tanned skintones? The only neutral shade available (already mixed) in BE is #2.3 Medium Beige. In the Naturally Flawless bismuth-free line I would recommend #3 Neutral. There are specials going on for both lines. The bismuth-free samples are on sale for 7 (1/4 tsp) samples for $10. The other sale is a mix and match (any BE samples and any Naturally Flawless bismuth-free samples) 4 for $10 or 9 for $20. If you have any questions or need any more help, just ask. Thanks, Lisa :)
Gwen Johnson <Gwen@...

Hi! I'm new to the group, and also to this type of makeup. I'm a little confused over what is what. There's Bare Escentials, Bare Minerals, and Bismuth Free? Are these the name brands, and what is the difference between them? I read the discussion of the Bismuth Free, but what brand name is it? OK - as you can see, I'm definitely confused! LOL! I was thinking that maybe Bare Escentials and Bare Minerals are the same, but not certain.

What would you recommend for someone 55 (ouch!), and currently wearing Merle Norman Medium Deep Neutral foundation? I like good coverage because of lots of freckles and too much sun over the years.

I think the samples are an excellent idea because even when purchasing in a store in person, it's still hard to get the color that matches real well unless you test it.

Thanks for any info!

Hi Keri! I'm so sorry to hear about your bicycle accident. I hope your face has healed nicely. I don't have any problems with mine wearing off on any of my clothing or my daughter's clothing. (I have a 2 year old so she's always in my face for something, LOL.) I also don't have any problems with my makeup fading like other yucky liquids I had tried in the past. The minerals actually look better the longer you wear them. :) If you have any other questions, just ask. I'm so glad you found us! Thanks, Lisa
Keri <keribloomer@...

Hi Ladies,

Is this true? I'm new to makeup in general but one of my fears is that it will stain my clothes especially around the collar. Anyone have any advice for a newbie to foundation? The reason I've decided to start wearing foundation is that I was in a bicycle accident over the summer and scratched my face a little on the road. When I went to Sephora they recommended BE since my skin was still healing but I haven't really mastered it yet and I was about to give up until I found this group. I've heard such wonderful things that I want to give it another try.

I haven't found that it creases badly at all.
I like to use it foiled ( mixed with water or Visine)
this tends to make it last even longer.
One good thing with trying Lisa's samples is that
you're not spending tons of money on something that
you might not like.
You could always try picking up one or two colors,
like the MAC colors you have now, and test them.
Trying the samples is how my addiction to BE
started... it's all Ebay's fault!! :0) LOL

Does BE eyeshadow stay on all day? Does it crease bad? and are the
colors very pigmented? I'm using MAC now and the colors have lots of
pigment in them which is good. They last all day without creasing. I
want to try BE but I want to know how they compare.
