Re: [naturallyflawless] girl talk :)

I just love those little Burt Bee's lip tints! They feel so good on my lips and I like the hint of color. I love lip glosses, and I make my own with the BE blushes. I am fixing to do one in a few. I get those little pots of carmex, or blistex, scoop out some, add a couple of drops of olive oil, and which ever color I decide on making, I sometimes mix 2 or 3 different minerals to customize my own color. I am going to be trying for a pinkish beige tonight. :) I made a beautiful wine color last week with Crushed Velvet BE blush. I also mix blushes, and eyeshadows to make different colors...it is so much fun to play with all the colors!

I meant to ask how is the Burt Bee's foot kit? I am always on the look for the perfect foot cream. I love to give myself pedicures. I like my feet to be silky soft. :)

I went nuts last night and bought some things on HSN. I got the Elariia Vanilla kit. Shower cream, talc, body cream, hand cream, and a liquid soap. Then I got the Wild Orchid starter kit...bath gel and body cream. I can't wait to get them!! I love their products!

Can't wait to hear what all you got tomorrow! lol

Susie

Thanks Susie,
I realized today that my dry patch has completely flaked off, leaving just a raw
(but no longer dry) patch of skin about the size of a pencil eraser. I've put
some no brand medicine on it to heal the raw area, and it's feel better already.
Planning on going to work tomorrow and buying a few more Burt's Bees
sample kits (already bought three, but there are a few more products I want to
try). I paid $6.60 for the hand repair starter kit $6.60 for the Hair Care Kit and
$7.15 for the regular starter kit (compared to retail: 12 dollars for the Hair and
Hand kit and 13 for the Starter Kit. Thinking of buying the Natural Remedy Kit,
Foot care Kit and perhaps the Zen Soap dish, I'll see when I get to work b/c I'm
pretty sure I just want the soap dish and not the soap! I know for sure I'm
buying myself another Parsley Blemish Stick, but as for the others, we'll see.
My store carries some other kits that aren't listed on the website (like the
Regular starter Kit). I'll update tomorrow when I'm home from work (which will
probably be around this time, give or take half an hour).
Aloha,
Victoria

update on new eye colors coming to site =)

2007-02-28 11:33:42

THANK YOU everyone for your input! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. It's so much more helpful to get the info directly from you guys instead of trying to guess. ;o) Ok, I'm starting with 10 colors. I placed the order tonight and hopefully I will be able to get them and have them up on the site in about 7-10 days. The first set of colors are pinks and a few purples. Unfortunately the first batch is limited b/c those are the only samples I had ordered. BUT I got a lot more samples tonight (including the popular browns) and I'll be able to take a look at those and hopefully get those in and up in about 2-3 weeks. Thanks Ladies! I'm excited!!! Lisa =)

OH . . the colors will all be available individually. I just thought it would be fun to do little trio "look" packs. So there will be both! ;o)

thrilled with the Warm Radiance and True Gold that I ordered.
Thank you to everyone who recommended that I give these a try. They
do an amazing job covering my rosacea and under eye circles. I love

Finally introducing myself!

2007-02-27 16:47:46

Hi!

my name is Jenn A,I am almost 34.I have making my own soaps and toiletries for a little over 2 years now.

I have been very interesting in trying the bare escentual mineral make ups.

I am anxiously awaiting the Oct 21 show on QVC! I hope they have a good try me kit or something.

I see you all talk about samples....could you tell me where I might get some?Thank you so much.

I am totally ignorant about this type of makeup. I have dark brown hair hair w/red highlights, light to medium skin (light right now,I haven't been out in the sun this summer) and green eyes.Would the 1.2 foundation be ok,you think? I am in the middle of nowhere in KY,so I can't go to a boutique to sample anything.

There was some chatter on one of my soap groups about making your own but I am not ready to do that right now.I have too much on my plate as it is and would rather buy it.

Thanks!

Jenn A

Hi everyone! This email is way off topic (re: safety). Lori T sent me this email today and I think every woman in the world should read this. Some of the things are soo incredibly helpful, but I never would have ever thought of them. This whole email is helpful tips that can keep us safer. Thank you so much Lori for these wonderful tips! Lisa =)

Very useful information that was sent to me today. We all need a reminder once in awhile.

We can now add to the list of victims the retired 77 yr. old TCU professor from Ft Worth whose body was found last week in Oklahoma--and the 11 yr.old in Sarasota, FL. Because of these recent abductions in daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation...This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading this, forward it to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP. It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby.----This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana.

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it's better to be safe than sorry.

I got this from my mom a few days ago, Totally something everyone woman
should know!
I was at the mall the other night and asked security to walk me to my car, one
of the guys look at me rather strange and asked, "Why?" I look at him and
deadpanned, "Because I have a lot of things to do tonight and being raped,
kidnapped or murdered just doesn't fit into my schedule." He was so shocked
he appologized on the spot and him and a female co worker (which I asked
for) walked me to my car.

JUST SEE YOUR FACE HAVE U TRIED FAST ACNE RELIEF TABLETS ?

for Victoria...Burt's Bees review

2007-02-25 15:48:06

I have been using Burt's lip balm for about 2 years now. I cannot
live without it. I dip it into my minerals and make lip colors.
I started using Burt's Baby Bee lotion last May. I have sensitive
skin and it is wonderful and I rarely get blemishes now, and if I do
I can easily cover them with BE.
I just bought Burt's parsley blemish stick for when I do get
pimples, and it is dynOmite. I am a picker and poker and I always
used to end up hurting my skin. The parsley stick makes the blemish
feel "cool" when you put in on, and then I swear by the next morning
it's better. Usually in 48 hours any swelling is gone. The nice
thing is you can use this as many times a day as you want to just to
make the pimple feel better. It won't dry or irritate the
surrounding skin either. I love it.
Laura

The Present....

2007-02-25 04:07:38

I am just going to give my .02 here again(not sure it is worth much being
an addict and all!!!LOL)
I have tried both the Ice Cream Man and the Present--
love them both BUT for me the Present REALLY seems to
give a type of "coverage"--I even hate to use that term because
there is no color and I cannot figure out for the life of me how it does
it...BUT whenever I use it I find that my "red" areas and minor acne
scarring just doesn't seem so vivid??????
I notice with the Ice Cream it just makes my face a bit smoother and
the Present does that too????

Re: Your Opinion on Aveeno, Nivea, and Burt's Bees...

2007-02-25 00:13:36

I can reply on a few of these:
From your Burt's Bees Starter Kit:
Orange Essence Facial Cleanser..have it, don't care for it. If it
the one I am remembering (I'm at work!), it goes on very...crisco-
like, if that makes sense. It's like trying to cleanse with pure
oil. It smells wonderful though. It rinsed clear, but I only used
it the one time, and haven't tried it since.
Milk and Honey Body Lotion...LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
Citrus Facial Scrub...not bad, a tad harsh on the skin...looks like
dirt! ROFL
Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream...LOVE IT
Coconut Foot Cream....LOVE IT
Beeswax Lip Balm...LOVE IT...I have about 8 tubes in various places
(purse, bathroom, car, desk at work, purse, nightstand). I also like
their Lip Shimmers...tingly lip balm w/ a hint of color.
Hope that helps,
Donna

Hi gals! How is everyone? It's been kind of quiet lately. =) Ok since we all are BIG FANS of shadows I want to add a whole new section with private label (meaning non-BE but still mineral) shadows so we have lots more to collect! Here's my idea and I need some input . . . .

I was thinking of selling the private label shadows in "look" groupings. For example, say the grouping was $6 . . you would get a lid color, accent color, and brow color . . . so you have the entire look all in one little set. What do you think? I know a lot of us have trouble picking shades to match other shades and this would eliminate all of the guess work. Just an idea . . . the price isn't set or anything, it was just an example. ;o) Let me know your thoughts please. You can respond to the group or email me directly. Thanks, Lisa =)

Your Opinion on Aveeno, Nivea, and Burt's Bees...

2007-02-23 21:48:33

I bought a few things after work, does anyone have an opinion on these:
Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer
(was torn between this one and Positively Smooth Facial Moisturizer, but
the Positively Radiant one has SPF 15) I bought this because I really like the
Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser. I wanted to try the Skin
Clarifying Toner, but my store doesn't carry it.
Nivea Moisturizing Toner
The entire Nivea line is on sale at my store, I wanted to buy a cleanser and
moisturizer, but I decided to wait till I figure out how my skin reacts to the
Aveeno.
Burt's Bees Hand Repair Kit: Moisturizing Gloves, Beeswax and Banana
Hand Cream, Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream, and Lemon Butter Cuticle
Cream.
Burt's Bees Starter Kit: Peppermint Shower Soap, Rosemarry Mint Shampoo
Bar, Wild Lettuce Toner, Beeswax and Banana Hand Cream, Orange
Essence Facial Cleanser, Milk and Honey Body Lotion, Citrus Facial Scrub,
Hand Salve, Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, Coconut Foot Cream, Beeswax Lip
Balm.
Any opinions on any of these products? Personal experiences?

Re: [naturallyflawless] Skin care

2007-02-22 17:18:44

Hi Trisha! Both products are very good primers. The Ice Cream Man is pink and smells like Baby Magic lotion. It's not though, promise, LOL! The Present is white and smells a little mediciney in my opinion. The Present seems thicker going on to me. I prefer the Present for covers blemishes. But my mom (who is 56) prefers the Ice Cream Man. It think it's really to a matter of opinion. Some of the gals on here prefer the Present while others prefer the Ice Cream Man. I'm sorry I probably haven't helped much. If you have any other questions, just ask. Thanks, Lisa =)
Patricia <Trishalla@...

Hi Lisa,
I have a question about the skin care , the difference between "The
Ice Cream Man", and The Present...Both say they take care of surface
blemishes to hide before the makeup, but Ice cream man says it is
also a primer, so I am a little confused.....Which covers the minor
blemishes, such as slight wrinkles, the best?
Thanks

Corey, I'm very late in reading the postings, you've probably had
MANY responses but I wanted to add my "two cents" while I was here
at your question.....I too have rosacea and dark under-eye circles.
I find the bisque works pretty well for me, HOWEVER....I have
another jar in which I mix 3/4 bisque and 1/4 well rested together
to cover the dark circles. It works GREAT!! The well rested has
the yellow undertones so that's all I need but if you have more
yellow undertones you might want to mix 1/2 and 1/2. Hope I didn't
repeat anyone else but I have LOTS of posts to read and thought I
might forget to respond if I didn't do it now!!

I was looking on the website to purchase a few things, but I couldn't find the
Eyeshadow in You Can Never Be Too Rich Brown and Liner Shadow in

got
the 4 BE and 3 Philosophy products instead. I forgot to add the Secret KIt into

well, instead of making three separate purchases, I'll just wait till I'm ready

Forgot that I decided to get the BE mascara and lash builder at the last

I decided to get the Summer Bisque at Sephora since I'm going to need a lot
because I have blotchy skin, but I'm SO looking forward to buying samples of
all of the pretty eye shadows and blushes from you! If I hadn't known about
your site I would have easily spent over 400 dollars today...instead I only
spent about 175...ish.
The sales lady asked if I needed help and I told her I wanted to try the
Summer Bisque, she got an applicator for me and put it on me. She told me,
"Wow, most people don't know what color they need, this one looks perfect on
you!" She was so surprised I knew exactly what I need. I told her, "Well, I

Thanks, I have a cute little Tinkerbell ceramic cup that I have no use for...now
I
do!
My eyes don't have colored flecks in them, they're just....brown...just about as
brown as you can get before they're black. Will try the testers at Sephora
before buying at your website. Thanks for the info on shipping!
I hope it's okay I added a couple of links to the Links section and a new table

Hi Susie! I'm so glad you liked your new blushes! What great uses for them!! The only color that I can think that might help is Citrus Twist, but it's more peach. There's really no color that I have that is a tad darker than Blush but still in the pink category. Know what I mean? I'll look around though. I'll let you know if I find one. ;o) Talk to you soon! Lisa =)
Susie <sszelich@...

Lisa, I have been busy and have not been on my computer very much.

I just love my samples!

I have Crushed Velvet Blush on my lips!!! It is beautiful!!! I really never wear red lipstick, and this is such a dark wine color, perfect for fall!! The Port Blush is so pretty...and a very small amount goes a long way! Also another perfect Fall color! I tried some of it on my eyes, and covered it with the Blush eyeshadow...wow!! I really picked some good ones!!!!

I have a question...is there an eyeshadow/glimmer// glimpse/ that is just a tad darker then the blush eyeshadow? I love the color range of the blush eyeshadow!!

thanks!

(ugh!) the occasional cockaroach. I bought the retractable brush, but I would
like to get the Kabuki, Flawless Application Face and Max Coverage

Also, for future reference, with 1.2 Fairly Light, what blushs and eye shadows

Re: [naturallyflawless] Foundation Shade

2007-02-18 20:57:49

Hi Trisha! Ok, so you like the #2.3 Medium Beige b/c of the darkness but it's too pink? We could try a custom mix of 3 parts #2 Light and 1 part #3 Medium. #2.3 is sort of like an equal mix of #2 and #3. That would make it more yellow. If that's not dark enough you could try 2 parts #2 Light, 1 part #3 Medium, and 1 part #5.2 Medium Tan. There's a few different options. You are definitely going to have to go with a custom mix though b/c there is no other shade that is a mixture of yellow undertoned foundation and pink undertoned foundation besides the #2.3. Does that make sense? If you want to 'try' these two mixes, you could purchase a 4 sample kit for $10 and I can custom mix each of them in 1/2 tsp quantities for you. If you have more yellow undertones I would try the Summer Bisque. Clear Radiance will be Ok if you use it under your foundation (so it doesn't change the foundation shade to much) after you adjust your foundation shade to better match your skin.
Using Clear Radiance with your currect foundation being too pink will definitely make it appear more pink. Another option would be to mix your Clear Radiance in with your foundation that way you can control the color 100%. This is what I do and it works great! Another local customer here in Cincinnati also mixes her Clear Radiance in the foundation (b/c its too pink alone on her yellow undertoned skin) and she is happy with this method. ;o) I hope this helps and I wasn't too confusing. If you need clarification on anything, just let me know. Thanks, Lisa =)

Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for your order! These samples (since they are things you would use everyday all over your entire face) will last around 2 weeks or 10-14 applications. That's my experience. You may end up using them faster or getting them to last longer though. Anyways those are excellent choices in my opinion. ;o) I use #4.53 Tan and love the sun-tanning products (Warmth and Warm Radiance) just to make my complexion a little prettier. ;o) The concealer, foundation, finishing powder and an allover face color are a great place to start. I'll ship these out today. They should make it to you around next Monday. Thanks, Lisa =)

Re: [naturallyflawless] Hi, New to Bare Minerals!

2007-02-16 04:15:53

Hi Victoria! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Great gift to get yourself! That's how I started using BE too. Decided to pamper myself and ended up with a whole new line of wonderful makeup! ;o) BE is wonderful and it shouldn't break your skin out at all. Here are my answers to your questions . . . . .
*What type of facial cleanser do you use?

I just switched to all natural rhassoul soap. I buy it from an online company called Splenda Blends. It's great! I have super sensitive, combination (dry but gets oily) skin and this stuff has completely balanced my skin and I have no more dryness. Definitely worth the measy $5 it cost me! They also have a great Purifying Rhassoul mask.
*What type of moisturizer do you use?

I'm still looking for my holy grail mousturizer, but for right now I use Cetaphil mousturizer. It's really great for my sensitive skin. It's heavy so I can only use it at night.

*Do you moisturize before using Bare Minerals?

You can and definitely should (in your case) mousturize before your BE. Just make sure to allow your mousturizer 10 minutes to dry before applying your foundation. BE doesn't go on flaky skin very well in my opinion. ;o)

*Does the company that sells Bare Minerals make a facial care system?

Bare Escentuals does have a skin care line called MD Formulations. I haven't tried it so I can't say anything about it, but some of the girls on here have.

*How are Bare Minerals' other products (i.e. eye shadow)?

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the BE's entire makeup line! I use everything . . . shadows, liners, lipsticks, lip glosses, etc. It's all wonderful!

I think that's it. Have a wonderful birthday Victoria! I look forward to getting to know you. Lisa =)

Hi, New to Bare Minerals!

2007-02-14 23:14:06

Hi everyone,
My name is Victoria, and I'm a 22 year old from Honolulu Hawaii. As a
birthday present to myself (which is today, October 6!), I stopped off at
Sephora at Ala Moana Shopping Center to spoil myself with a few goodies.
I was about to make my purchase when I spotted a display for Bare Minerals
by the registers. I was floored. I'd been wanting forever to order this
product
from the infomercial, but the thought of spending 60 dollars for a product I
hadn't even tried seemed a little hard for me to accept doing since I have
always had the hardest time finding a foundation to match my odd shade of
skin perfectly!
I've been using Merle Norman's LUXIVA Ultra Powder Foundation. However
I've never really cared for it since it feels very heavy, doesn't stay on well,
and
smells funny...but it's the only shade that ever matches me! Since I was 12
(and began wearing makeup) I've tried nearly every brand of makeup to find a
foundation that matches my skin. I do not tan so my skin stays rather
consistant, but I've never found anything that looks right.
I was thrilled to be able to dip into the testers and try Bare Minerals before
deciding to buy. The sales lady helped me pick out a color (1.2 Fairly Light)
which I ended up purchasing, along with Mineral Veil, the travel compact, and
the retractable brush.
I had intended to go to school after shopping, but I had enough time to go
home and try my new find first. I was amazed at how light the foundation
feels. It's like I'm not wearing anything at all! I have very prominent red
blotches by my nose and above my upper lip, but Bare Minerals covers it with
ease! I was even more amazed at how the foundation stayed put all day, I
didn't have to touch up at all! Normally I have to redo my makeup every few
hours. I work at a Longs Drugs, so I stopped of there before coming home to
pick up some food. A few of my co-workers commented on how pretty I
looked, and I was wearing clothes I wear everyday!
I would have bought the starter kit if they had my color in stock, but they'll
be
calling me as soon as they get it in so I can get the other brushes and Leslie's
DVD!
However, I have a few questions for you seasoned users:
*What type of facial cleanser do you use? I'm using Neutrogena's Oil-Free
Acne wash per my Derm's recommendation, but it dries out my skin horribly! I
want to switch, but I don't know what would be good. I have sensitive skin that
breaks out from the slightest thing, however, due to a differin topical
(differin.com) and yasmin 28 birth control pills, I've been practially zit free,
with, of course, the occasional onslaught during the time of the month or when
a product irritates my skin.
*What type of moisturizer do you use? I'm using Merle Norman's SPF 15 for
Normal/Oily skin as EVERYTHING else seems to make me break out. The
one I'm using is $75 dollars a pot, and I'd like to find something cheaper,
other
than the price, I'm happy with the this moisturizer.
*Do you moisturize before using Bare Minerals? I've heard conficting
information (yes you should always before applying makeup versus no not
with bare minerals because it's 'different') My face is awful dry after washing
my face, and I don't think Bare Minerals would work well with dry, flaky skin.
(though I'm no expert.)
*Does the company that sells Bare Minerals make a facial care system? Has
anyone tried it?
*How are Bare Minerals' other products (i.e. eye shadow)? I use whatever's
on sale at Longs (the curse of my employee discount) such as Cover Girl,
Revlon, NYC (or is it called NYX? Just now realizing I know where it is, but
don't know what the name of the brand is!) Loreal, and my favorite Maybeline.
I would love to use something that doesn't irritate my skin the way the others
do (though Maybeline and NYX seem to be rather good, I'd be eager to try
something as wonderful as the Bare Minerals foundation!)
Wow! What a long introduction! I think I'll leave it at this for now and thank
you for reading my entirely to long post!
Mahalo Nui Loa,
Victoria

Lisa,
Hi, I'm Victoria...I just joined this group a few minutes ago, and what a treat
to
find such a helpful hint right away! This is a huge problem I have and I'll
definately pick up a bottle of 'potion' the next chance I get.
I get all of my makeup from www.sephora.com, though I'm lucky to have a
Sephora store near my house so I don't have to pay shipping. They have a
WONDERFUL return policy. (Any return is gladly accepted within 60 days
with reciept (if purchased instore) or with merchadise label (by mail).) If you
call them ahead of time to inform them of your return, they'll issue you a
return
number to affix to your package to speed your return along. All returns may
be open/used as long as you have your reciept or merchandise label (visit
sephora.com and their customer service page for more info.)

ATTN anyone tired of eye makeup creasing . . . .

2007-02-14 17:43:35

Ok, I know a few of us are in search of a perfect eye shadow primer to keep our eye makeup from creasing . . . .well I found one!!! It's by Urban Decay. It's called Eye Shadow Primer Potion. It comes in a cute little genie bottle and has a lip gloss type wand to apply it with. I used it earlier today around 2pm and it's now 1am and NO CREASING! I have the oiliest lids ever and my eye makeup hasn't creased at all! It usually creases in about 2 hours! Amazing! Anyways, I'm not sure where to even find Urban Decay products. I know they have a website. I'll put a link to the "potion" at the bottom of this. The retail price is $14. I picked mine up on ebay for $14.50 shipped. ;o) Oily lid gals you gotta try this stuff! If anyone tries it or has tried it, post your experience. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks, Lisa =)

Glad you delurked

Intro and Question

2007-02-14 03:04:15

Hi everyone! I've been on the list for a little while now, but have
never posted (yes, I'm a lurker!). I'm 43, married to an amazing man,
and have three great kids. I ordered samples from Lisa, and loved
them so much that I then ordered full sizes of everything, plus some
extra!
I have a question. I have rosacea and have found the Bisque to not be
yellow enough to tone down my worst areas. Should I try Summer
Bisque? Is there something else that has more yellow undertones that
I should try? I'm a red-head, and wear #2 foundation. Also, I
inherited lovely dark circles under my eyes from my mother. The
Bisque does a faily good job covering them, but I was wondering if
Well Rested helps with under eye circles? Thanks!
Corey

Welcome everyone!!

You are all gonna love it here!!
We haven't been too talkative lately but everyone is so helpful here!!
Well here goes....
"Hi my name is Dawn and I am a BE addict" LOL
It really is an addiction once you start using it!! (and yes I blame

affordable!!!)
For some reason
I feel the need to own every shade that is made!!LOL
Well anyhoo
Great to have more people here!

Hello Trisha,
Welcome! I love this makeup too and like you I tried everything
else also. I will never, ever use liquid makeup again. Just the
thought makes my skin crawl. I'm sure you noticed how much we all
think of Lisa. She really makes it possible for us to try lots of
different colors without the huge investment. I prefer the smaller
sizes of eyeshadow anyway. I would never be able to use up the full
size (except maybe Well Rested) in a reasonable time. I have tons
of the 1/4, 1/2 and full teaspoon sizes and love all of them. Have
fun, enjoy yourself, and let us know if you come up with anything
fun for the rest of us to try!

I would buy that! I have the Senorita Margarita also and it's
awesome too. I love Margaritas and this smells exactly like a really
good one. I was a bartender and I know all about Margaritas. I
swear I can even smell the salt. Happy, Happy me.
I tried it on my hair too but probably will not be using it that way
in the future. My hair is thick and color treated and I really need
to use an intensive moisture shampoo to manage it. It would probably
work great for less thick less damaged hair though. It sure leaves
my skin feeling soft.

Burt's Bee's Parsley Blemish stick

A while back someone was asking about this. I finally tried it and
it works great. It calms pimples down enough to cover them with BE
foundation, etc. I used to use Retin-A (a tube I have had for 5
years, it's probably no good anyway) and this works just as well and
is gentler on my skin. Good stuff, two thumbs up.

concealer

2007-02-10 15:52:58

Hello-I just started using BE and I really like the way it feels on
my skin and also it doesn't look like I am wearing make-up. My
question is what should I use as a concealer if the bisque is too
dark for me? I definately need to use something for my dark circles
and reddness around my nose.
Thanks,
Kristin

Hey Susie! I finally used the Amazing Grace 3-in-1 as a shampoo and it works great! The only thing I had a hard time getting use to was that there isn't much lather. That might be my hard water though. =) Lisa

Re: [naturallyflawless] Retro liner with Brush reporting in

I have the same problem....I am on a quest for the perfect eye shadow base.
I am using an eye shadow base right now, and it is pretty good. The liner
holds to your eye and you get much less of any tiny flecks. I also use a
concealer on my lids, and that has worked well. I have found with minerals
you do need a base when used dry. The other day I put on a cream eyeshadow
that was a very light bare pinkish color, and that worked well also.

Retro liner with Brush reporting in

2007-02-09 10:55:32

Hi all,
Last week I ordered the new liner brush and eyeliner color "retro"
from QVC...well I have used it 2 days now... I LOVE!!! did I say
LOVE the brush!! It's absolutely fantastic!!!! It's the only brush
I want to use now for the lining! The retro color is nice
also...its a bit darker than bark...but not as harsh as Onyx...it's
really a great dark color... I do like it alot...
I do have a question... I have used my liner wet...and dry... I
like the dry look better, however.. I hate the little flecks of
color I get that fall onto my checks...then I need to wipe and smear
it off after my liner application. I have learned to put my
foundation on last..but still it's a pain.... I am swishing my
brush..tapping...and even scrap it along the side of the lid for my
liner and I still get the flecks...any suggestions? What do you all
do? What have you experienced? or is this just my error in
technique?
Thanks!!
Karen

BE irritating to my skin

2007-02-08 23:41:43

morning karen..
I too have experienced the "burning & a itching", but mostly when I
put myself outdoors in the heat? Have been wearing some samples that
I ordered frm Lisa to work, in the A/C NO reactions? Glad I found
Lisa, I was NOT ready to make the "financial" commitment until I

just to try it. Good Luck!

new MICHELLE - bare escentuals

2007-02-07 20:25:57

Hi Michelle! Welcome to the group!! Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. This week has been a little hectic. ;o) I'm glad you found some helpful info!

I use my kabuki for foundation the most. I have two kabukis that I use daily. I use one for my foundation, then one with Clear Radiance to finish off the look. I use Clear Radiance in place of Mineral Veil . . . so if you use Mineral Veil you could use it for that. I would definitely recommend the kabuki brush with the foundation b/c it gives the best coverage in my opinion. =)

Did the Medium Tan work out for you? Blushes . . if you lean towards the peach side Dusk or Fresh would be great! Tomorrow night there will be a new blush called Horizon on the site. That may be the best one for you to start with. It's a true medium intensity coral. Great for fall!!

Bisque and Summer Bisque are both "concealers". The difference is Bisque has pink undertones and Summer Bisque has yellow undertones. If #5.2 Medium Tan ends up working for you, you would need Summer Bisque. If #4.53 ends up being your color, then you will need regular Bisque. I hope I'm not confusing you.

Hope this helps!! Keep us posted on how you are doing and ask any questions you may have! Talk to you soon, Lisa =)

the mineral veil! Again, warmth is a little orangie like the 5.2
med. tan! Using them as "eyeshadows"! Makes a rusty brown, a nice
look for the upcoming fall...looks great in the crease for
that "smoldery-smudgy" look. Try it!

buns Mom used to make. You can even smell the frosting. My husband
is on a diet (no sugar allowed at all) and he can't get enough of
that smell. I love everything else too Lisa. Thanks again.
To Michelle, I use my kabuki brush for just about everything. I
actually have several of them. It's the only brush that gives me
enough coverage when applying the foundation color and I have
another kabuki that I use to blend my blush and yet another that I
use to blend my eyeshadow. I really cannot live without the kabuki
brush. There is a baby buki out there too that I would like to get.
I hope you have as much fun with this as we do.

bare escentuals

2007-02-05 12:25:38

I have looked through all the old posts there is a lot of information
in 1400 messages. I am excited to start using the make-up I like make
up but hate when you can tell that you are wearng it.
I have a question I am wondering how many people here in the group
are women of color and what colors are best. I am about the shade of
halle berry. So I ordered the tan kit on the bare escentual web site
thinking my color would be the medium tan . I ordered from the main
site becuase it seemed to get brushes the cheapest if that makes
sense being that the brushes are 20dollars each. What do you use the
kabuki brush for the most?
But I will definetely start getting the samples from lisa. I am glad
you are doing so well in the bussiness it seems. It must be so great
being able to stay home with your kids and work at home. any ways the
colors I was thinking were the blush dusk and either the bisque or
the summer bisque (what is the difference?) thanks for your help. I
will definitly keep everyone informed when i start using
Can't wait to visit the store in atlanta too!!
