Re: Skin Reactions? (bbabmontret)

2007-01-31 10:12:33

Thanks for the reply! That was my first thought, maybe its the BRUSH
& the "buffing" action. I used three (3) different brushes?
Narrowing down to the buffing. Lisa also emailed me that it was rare
that anyone had problems but possible due to an ingredeint -bismuth
oxychloride. Gives everything a pearly look. Look forward to
hearing anymore comments & hints. Thanks again.

Re: [naturallyflawless] Skin Reactions?

2007-01-31 09:45:21

I definitely have this problem.

The 2 that bother me are Well Rested and Mineral Veil.

One thing that's helped is toI make sure I use a very soft brush and apply it lightly. (no buffing hard)

That seems to keep the irritation to a minimum, or gets rid of it all together.

Since I've been doing that I've been able to wear it all the time...

even working out.

(sigh) There goes my excuse for not working out any more.... :-)

Hope this helps!

Just got my 1st BE products...yea! Love the coverage of the "summer
bisque" for problem spots. Has anyone experienced "itching, burning,
tingling" sensations after application and being in the outdoors
heat? And what did you do to alieviate it? It was 98-100 degrees
this past weekend in Katy Texas, I was at an outdoor event & had this
reaction. Being indoors at the office today...no problems! Thanks.

Hi everyone! I just ordered some Navy blue liner shadow for the website. It should be up by Wednesday the 29th. Thanks, Lisa =)

Claudia <cyr524@...

I rather wear a blue shadow that is sorta like navy. Also, that makes a good liner. I hope someone could help me figure about mixing shades or a color that is blue. Thanks. I can't wait to hear.

Re: [naturallyflawless] MIssed show....new item!

2007-01-29 20:08:49

Hi Karen! Thank you so much for all this great info and for sharing with us!! ;o) Lisa
Hi all!

My name is Karen and I am relatively new to the group.. I have been lurking for a few weeks now. I have been a BE user for a few years now, getting my "fix" from QVC. I just moved to Las Vegas and discovered they carry BE at the Ulta stores and for the same price as QVC... ie the foundation refill is $25... however if you need a brush it's cheaper to go the QVC route.

My foundation is #3 but I mix Warmth with it to give it a bit of a lift!! I never use the mineral veil, I don't care what it does for me...however I will use clear radiance over the top sometimes. Blush ... I use soft focus romance..... for my eyes... I play around a bit... I always cover my entire lid from brow to lash with Pure then sometimes I use Bare Skin foiled over the lower half of the lid with a darker liner or a smashbox liner.... or I use one of the gold glimmers like Hottie as a thicker liner used as a foil with a thin dark liner --- really depends on what look I am going for! okay back to the topic of this email!!

Anyway...... Lisa Robertson was the host for her "Ask Lisa" segment and on it was Leslie with BE..... Lisa had a make up artist use a brush on her and she loved it with the BE so she took it to Leslie over a year ago and they reproduced the brush and "made it even better" for the liners and then also had a new color of liner....

The brush is angled and very thin at the tip.... the color of the liner is called "retro lounge" it's a black..but not an onyx black.... I can't wait to get it and try it out. Item # A06558

Nice to meet all of you through this message board! I will try to contribute more to this group!

Re: [naturallyflawless] Hello Please help

Claudia, BE has a shadow called Denim, and another called Blue dream. One of the darkest that I use for a liner is Black pearl. It is very dark blue, and makes a great liner. I really like it a lot. I usually use it wet as a liner.

Susie

Unbelievable! I thought between all of us we would have heard
something. I'm really sorry I missed it too. I still like to watch
even if there is nothing new. It's fun to see the products used.
By the way, I agree with everyone... Lisa is the best! I can't
imagine how she manages to do everything that she does. The
ordering, mailing *with everything arriving faster than the speed of
light), bookeeping, this group, her website, make-overs (or unders),
bottling and packaging, keeping up with our wants and needs, a
million other things, not to mention that she is a devoted Mommy! It
makes me dizzy. Unbelievable.

I won 2 KISS MY FACE samples in the raffle this month. I thought,
that's fine, I always try the testers while I am in line at our
local natural food store. But, I was filled with joy when I received
my samples, because I knew Lisa had specifically chosen items that
would address (what she knows are) my "trouble spots". She knows

pore minimizer mask and eye cream.

Re: [naturallyflawless] question...

2007-01-22 09:05:25

I like the Present better. (tried both)
It gives more "coverage" than the Ice Cream Man--
I keep saying this but The Present is really hard to explain.
Philosophy calls it a makeup and I notice that it seems to
give a coverage. When I put it on----- my acne scars don't seem so noticable--
but it isn't flesh colored -- hard to explain.
I love it. I can really tell a difference if I don't put it on before
my makeup!!!
Not sure I really helped

JENNIFER - New member--need clarification

2007-01-20 03:58:58

Hi Jennifer! Sorry about the delay in answering this! There just aren't enough hours in the day!! I'm glad you are liking BE so much! We all LOVE it too! ;o) Yes, I do buy the products from QVC and repackage them in smaller amounts so you can buy lots and lots more!! ;o) Instead of just buying one eye shadow for $12, you can get 3-4 colors in sample sizes. And as you pointed out, sometimes we all like change and those large jars would last a year!! Way too long for me. I can't stay commited to one color for that long, LOL! I do have the Angel Face catalog. Do you see a color that you are interested in that I don't have? I really like the lipsticks! They are very good quality. They stay on a long time and don't dry out my lips. The cremes that I have on the site are . . .

AIDA - deep mauve rose

ANGORA ROSE - rose w/plum undertone

CHA-CHA - deep orangey red

CLASSIC RED - red velvet

FOREST - warm russet red

PECAN - neutral mauve

SERENITY - light beigey rose

I have not tried the BE angled blush brush, but I have a comparable one. I like it. =) Just let me know if you have any other questions at all. Thanks, Lisa =)
Jennifer <jenniferegy2000@...

Dear Lisa and other members:
I have been using BE since the end of May or so and I have found it
to be fantastic! I love the way it makes my skin look and the
lightness of the products. I have used very expensive products in
the past and now have completely changed to BE. The foundation kit I
bought off the infomercial I wear Fairly Light and Light with the
Mineral Veil. I am in my forties and a natural blonde with light
skin and blue eyes. I have purchased several kits from QVC since May
to help me get acquainted with the eyeshadows and the blushes as well
as the brushes. So now I have a small assortment of glitters,
glimpses, and eyeshadows.
Lisa--do you buy the product from QVC and then repackage it so we can
try smaller amounts? I think that is what you are saying? I know
that the BE comes sizes that will really last a VERY long time, so
one might get tired of a certain color blush or eyeshadow before
using it all. I do like the eyeshadows as they have a matte
finish...the glitters are too glittery for me and the glimmers seem
to be in between. I use Coffee Bean and Java and Soho the most
often, but I did just buy the Brocade eyeliner with the Bronze Leaf
from QVC and it is lovely. I just ordered cashmere last night--no
glitter in it whatever. Did you get the new Amgel Face catalog from
QVC? How are the lipsticks--I like cream lipsticks the best and I
hope you have tried them.
I am considering buying the angled brush for blush application--has
anyone tried it?
I am VERY excited about this cosmetic line--my skin is extremely
sensitive and I am happy to have found something that does not
contain harmful ingredients and oils.
Best Wishes,
Jennifer-Washington, DC

I don't really know how to explain this type of sponge, but it works really well for applying minerals. Yes, you can add water to Bisque or the foundations. You just need to add enough for the use (meaning you can't mix it ahead of time and let it sit - does that make sense?) and it needs to be kind of pastey. I use Bisque as my concealer and put it on first before anything else. If you decide to try the flocked sponge method and need help, just ask. If you have any other questions or if I didn't answer something, just let me know. Thanks, Lisa =)
Claudia <cyr524@...

Hello everyone! My name is Claudia. I have been using BE for 3 years
now. I was wondering though what is a flocked sponge? Also, I really
and not sure how to use the bisque. I have seen you can add water to
it. Can you add water to your foundations also? I need help to make
my sick flawless. It just don't. I still have red places, scares from
acne. Also, I have adult acne now. I need to cover them up. I have
large pores and wrinkles. Please I hope you can help me.

New member--need clarification

2007-01-19 09:26:28

Hi Claudia! Have you tried any makeup primers? Also have you tried putting Mineral Veil on first? You can use a flocked sponge with the Mineral Veil and pat it on. It sort of fills in your pores. The makeup primers help a little, but not much. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Hope this helps some. Thanks, Lisa =)

I just had to share a really funny thing that happened to me not long
ago. I work for a restaurant as their office manager. The office is
on the second floor above one of their locations. It was my birthday
about one week ago and as I was coming down the stairs after work the
entire staff came out onto the deck and sang "Happy Birthday" to me.
I have no idea how they found out, but they did. Anyway, one of the
girls there came up to me and said, and I quote "So, this makes you
28, 29 now"? I looked at her just to make sure that she was serious
and replied, "actually, I'm 37." She really was serious. Her jaw
dropped and she couldn't speak for a moment. I still can't believe
she thought I was 29. I swear I look better at 37 than I ever did at
29 and I know it's the Bare Minerals and Philosophy. It was a really
nice birthday present!

Which foundation to choose?

Hi! I am interested in trying out BE and need help selecting a
foundation color. I generally have fair skin, burn easily then
(maybe) tan. I have brown eyes, blond-ish hair, & look best in pink
& red colors (peach & orange don't do much for me!). When I do use
make-up, my foundation color is "Antique Ivory" by Mary Kay. Thanks,

Hi Donna! You didn't miss it. I just got bambarded with all this Philosophy stuff. I have everything all packaged up and Stace is putting it on the website today. Sorry about the delay on the raffle. I also finally got two huge BE orders (that I waited over 3 weeks for) and just got overwhelmed. The raffle results will be posted tonight very late. So sorry about the delay. I wanted to put some Philosophy products in the raffle too, so I had to hurry with those for that too. I'll do the drawing tonight very late, so everyone will see the results tomorrow morning. I would do it tonight early, but I'm meeting Stephanie at the airport! ;o) So the results will be in your inbox tomorrow morning. Thanks, Lisa =)

Re: [naturallyflawless] MERLENE - Question

2007-01-15 01:28:49

Thanks for responding. I am putting the foundation on in layers and I really do like the makeup. It's the swirling and the taping where I seem to be making the most mess. I know put the container on a wash cloth before I even start.

One other question. I ordered several shadow sample like sizes and they are glittery. How do I make sure I'm not ordering a glittery product? I'm too old to glitter.

Thanks

Merlene

Hey! Sorry about the delay! I haven't tried either yet, but if this helps. . . both are coming to the site as samples. Thanks, Lisa =)

Has anyone used the Philosophy acne treatments? I use the purity face cleanser and wanted to try the "on a clear day" and "hope in a bottle". I went to the website and they have multiple products for adult acne and I am not sure which one to use or try. Since it is pretty pricey I don't want to buy it and end up hating it because it doesn't work. Thanks!!

MERLENE - Question

2007-01-14 10:55:10

Hi Merlene! Try working with less product on your brush. Just put a little on, swirl, tap and buff, then apply. If it's not enough, just add another layer. =) If you need more help, just let me know. If it helps, I'm still making messes after 2 years. It's only a mess in my sink and on the counter top now though. ;o) Lisa
I'm a recent convert to BE and really like the product. It's the first makeup I've used that I could blend and also I don't wind up with a mask like look. My question is---it seems as if I waste a lot of the product. I wind up with a little bit of the powder from whatever I am using on my makeup table, my cosmetic bag, myself, etc. And I really hate this. Am I doing something wrong, or how can I change this so that I'm not wasting it?

Thanks

Hey guys.

I just wanted to tell you that I tried the flocked sponge and loved it.

I used a moisturizer & then Ice Cream Man.
Let that set for a couple minutes; then went to work with the sponge & Well Rested.
I skip foundation & Mineral Veil under my eyes, & I have to say it looks a lot less wrinkled & caked.

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect under-eye cream , so when I find it I think I'll have finally kicked this problem!!!

Thanks so much for the tip!!!

Re: Primer

Well Donna, it is my understanding that it helps to smooth out the
surface of your skin before you apply your foundation. People who
have large pores and acne scars, poc marks, etc. use it so they have
a smooth "slate" to work with. Is that about right Lisa??

I'm so glad you are having such great luck with Philosophy!! I think eventually I will bring the fragrances to the site too. ;o) Lisa
Donna Conner <angel91805@...

...experience. LOL

OMG....Philosophy is the BOMB!!!! I got may QVC haul on Monday. Started using it Monday night. By last night, my skin, bare - no makeup-, looked 10 yrs younger!!!! My "naturally" red cheeks are GONE! My skin is clearer, more even...it is so wonderful!!!

I got the Clear Kit...for congested skin is what it says. Sooo..Purity cleanser...sooo wonderful, even takes eye makeup right off with NO stinging. Just melts makeup right off. Hubby felt my cheek last night and said it felt soft as a baby's butt. Romantic, right? And that was WITHOUT moisterizer. Then I use the Hope in a Jar eye and lip, Hope in a Bottle for the congested skin. And in the morning...The Present. This stuff is WONDERFUL. Makes everything soooo even and smooth. I even put some on my eyelid (it didn't say avoid eye area!)...and last night, I still had my eye makeup on my lids where it belonged...not in the creases all nasty! And that was 14 hrs after I put it on!!! I can't thank everyone enough for all the Philosophy talk that urged me to try it. For 33 yrs I have looked for skin care that works....and this does! Oh, and I also got The Great Mystery...one minute facial...and that was wonderful too!

I also got the Amazing Grace perfume and body wash. I realllllly love it too. I can't wait for Lisa to start carrying this stuff (hint hint hint)! There is a few more things I want, like On a Clear Day, but I'm going to wait, not so patiently! ROFL!!!

Try it...it is SOOOOO worth it.

Hugs,

DONNA - Philosophy

2007-01-10 19:05:54

Hi Donna - When I use my Bare Minerals wet . . . I wet the brush with a drop of water, just dip it into the jar, then swirl it around in the lid and make a sort of paste, then apply it. Hope this helps, Lisa =)
sashab2000 <kamela@...

The Philosophy Clear Kit and the Perfect kit are almost the same
except for one product. The Clear kit contains Hope in a Bottle
which is a topical treatment for adult acne and the Perfect Kit
contains Hope in a Jar therapeutic moisturizer which contains
antioxidants and all sorts of good stuff. I think that they have
several products that have similar names and that gets a little
confusing.
I have never used my minerals wet but really would like to try it
too. I think you need to separate the minerals. I know I've read
about it in a few of these posts.

But so far so good--liking it!!

Hey Michelle! I have a heavy eye mousturizer here that I've been using lately. I've hung onto this email so I could send you a sample if I liked it. I was hoping it would help you with the dryness (spell?) around your eyes. ;o) Send me your address so I can mail you a sample of this stuff. OH . . . it's 100% natural. Lisa

Hi,
I just had a quick question.
I really love BE, but I'm finding that my eye area looks really dry.
I use a moisturiser morning and night, and I've even tried using Ice Cream Man.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any quick fix ideas?
Thanks!
Michelle

Re: eye color combinations

2007-01-08 10:35:35

I think that is a FANTASTIC idea!!! I like to use the light colors
on the inside half of the eye lid and the dark on the outside
half.... I have also purchased some empty eyeshadow jars and some
Moonstruck eyeshadow to mix with some of my dark colors to
make "new" colors. So far it is working out great!! I used bikini
and Myth together and it looked "fahhhbulous dahhhlink"!!

wondering which is better. I have a friend in need of a good one.
Please keep us posted. I am IN LOVE with Hope In A Jar Eye, Lisa
had a sample for me to try and it is GREAT! I went on eBay and
bought a whole jar I liked it so much!! Lisa has me addicted to BE
too.....I never really wore eyeshadow before and now I want EVERY
color!! LOL

eye color combinations

2007-01-08 00:34:47

Hi everyone,
I was thinking today...(scary thought..lol..me thinking :) ) I have
so many eyeshadow colors that I have trouble matching with
others...ya know like base color versus contour color or inside eye
color, etc. So I was wondering if we could all post our favorite
shadow combinations to make like a little color workbook to help each
other out. How does that sound? Lisa is there anyway to make a
document that we could all access and add things too? Just let me
know what you guys think.

Re: Philosophy

2007-01-07 17:50:11

The Philosophy Clear Kit and the Perfect kit are almost the same
except for one product. The Clear kit contains Hope in a Bottle
which is a topical treatment for adult acne and the Perfect Kit
contains Hope in a Jar therapeutic moisturizer which contains
antioxidants and all sorts of good stuff. I think that they have
several products that have similar names and that gets a little
confusing.
I have never used my minerals wet but really would like to try it
too. I think you need to separate the minerals. I know I've read
about it in a few of these posts.

Re: My Philosophy....

I agree. The Clear kit is the best. I have two obsessions now, Bare
Minerals and Philosophy skincare. I just got the Peel kit today and
can't wait to try it!

Philosophy

2007-01-06 21:31:48

Hi Donna,
I only found a Clear Kit. Is that the same as the Perfect Kit?
Also, when you say wet, do you just put a wet brush in the minerals,
or do you separate a small amount of minerals to wet?
I only have the Bare Minerals so far, but I'm can't wait to get more
products.
Bye from another Donna

Re: new here

2007-01-06 19:05:04

Nope. I'm afraid of making such a large investment for a product I
might hate! I know they have a guaranteed return policy, but I don't
really trust that (too much Clark Howard!). Julie

Re: [naturallyflawless] new here

Hi Julie! Glad you made it here! You will love it!

Susie

Hi everyone. I was directed here by Susie! I am Julie, 33, part-time
sahm to 2 boys & 1 girl in Franklin, Ohio (just north of Cincy). I
am REALLY interested in Bare Essentials; just wondering if all
mineral makeup is roughly the same of if some is really better than
others. I have a bit of oil in the T-zone by the end of the day;
otherwise, no major complexion/allergy issues. Any advice is
appreciated! TIA, Julie

Re: [naturallyflawless] Philosophy....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE FLEMENCO
eye shadow (glimpse?)
When you see it in person you think "dayglo" but it in no way looks like that--
I actually like it wet for more color!! It is AWESOME!!!!

My Philosophy....

2007-01-05 14:55:31

...experience.

Hugs,

Donna

2007-01-05 04:28:56

I think Lisa has her own private jet....you place an order and she flies to your home and delivers the next day..lol

I got my beautiful Flamenco, very pretty lavender-lilac color. Great for us green eyed girls.

I also got the Pink Posey, an absolutely wonderful pinky peach. I tried some on my lips also and it looked very nice. I applied the Flamenco wet, and even for a day time look it did not over power at all. My green eyes looked like emeralds!

I really hate that my camera won't transfer to my computer anymore!! I would love to show some of the colors I have come up with, especially all the new lip glosses I have been making! I have even been custom making them for my daughter. I am now trying to figure out a good color for my best friend,She is a very light skinned black woman. She wants something more on the burgundy side. Tonight I finally got my perfect nude color!!

Also Lisa I am looking for some taupe colors for my eyes, since it's getting close to fall.

I am looking in the catalog, what do you think about these colors?? I have very green eyes.

Wild Dawn

Madras

Precious

I still will be wearing my bright pretty colors, I just need some neutral taupe's to blend with.

Oh! And what about that Bunny Hop??? How does it look? I know it looks very pretty in the catalog!

Thanks

Susie

Your message settings are set to daily digest. =) (Only people on individual mail can see the pictures.) That means you can't see any of the pictures posted unless the person uploads them to a file. Anyone posting with pictures is more than welcome to upload your pictures in the temporary file I made yesterday for the jars. That way we can all see everything. ;o) Another option you have is to email the person direct and ask them to forward the picture to you. I'm sure anyone posting is more than happy to do that. Hope this helps!! Lisa =)

PS - sorry it took so long for me to respond. I had to wait until I checked your settings to answer properly.

Re: Primers

2007-01-04 05:28:18

I have huge crater-like pores and I have tried Philosophy's The
Present and Ice Cream Man. Honestly I have had no luck with either
of them making my pores less visible or filling them in at all. I
tried putting on more or less and still huge pores. Not to say that
they aren't worth a try. I really like the finish that they leave
on my skin. Makeup goes on much easier and looks more even if I
wear the primer. Concealers work better too. I don't always wear
them because I just can't seem to spare the few extra minutes in the
morning waiting for them to dry so I can apply my makeup. The
Present goes on more thickly than Ice Cream Man and that is the
biggest difference between them. They both feel about the same to me
after they dry. Hope this helps.

link. If you are then I have no idea what to do. Sorry.

Susie

Ok gals. I want to survey all of you who use make up primers. I am
currently working with a girl who has need of a good one. She has
never heard of them and I really hadn't either until this group came
about. ANYWAY, it looks to me like she has REALLY big pores and
some acne scars. She doesn't seem to have many breakouts now but
the scars remain. What is the best primer in your opinions? I am
turning her on to BE (I'll contact you later about that Lisa) and I
think a primer would help her achieve the best finished result.
Thanks for all your input in advance!!

Re: Packaging for Philosophy products . . .

The packaging looks good to me! I just tried my sample of Hope In A

lid area is so bad it's like tissue paper. Can anyone tell me if it
will help her???

Packaging for Philosophy products . . .

2007-01-03 13:23:40

Hi everyone! If anyone has ordered any of the Philosophy products yet you will see I didn't have the correct packaging yet. I was trying to decide what to do about the Philosophy products, if I should start to carry lots of their products or let this company I am working with try to make 100% natural versions of them. Well I decided to carry Philosophy's products. After this thing with my supplier happened I realized, that could happen with a smaller company much easier. It would be terrible, so I am safer in my opinion carrying Philosophy. Lots of you will probably be happy about this. ;o) So the point of this email is to let you all know what the packaging will look like so I can get some input on it. I made a temporary file in the photos section so everyone could view the packaging. Take a look and let me know what you think. Talk to you all soon! Lisa =)

Please post your opinion of these . . . .

internet was down last night and all day today. . .

2007-01-02 02:25:32

If anyone placed an order yesterday or today, it won't go out until tomorrow morning. I apologize for the inconvenience. I'm having trouble with my internet connection. My dsl (is that what it's called??) is messed up and is messing up my phone line. I'm actually on a dial up connection temporarily.

ALSO THIS IS IMPORTANT! . . . I lost my main Bare Minerals supplier. It's so sad, LOL! Seriously this company was so great! I ordered and within two days my shipment was here. Well I lost this company unexpectedly. I called to place an order and bam my products were no longer available. =( Anyways I rushed around to find comparable suppliers. I placed an order with two different companies last Monday (2 weeks ago this coming Monday) and have still not received either order. Sorry about the rambling . . geesh! What this all means . . . I have to take the full size jars off the site temporarily. I do not have enough products here to maintain orders for full size jars right now. If you have placed an order in the last two days (for full size jars), I will be sending you a refund today. All of the sample sizes are still available, including the largest 1 tsp size. If you need full size jars of something, please consider purchasing a 1 tsp sample. It will last at
least 2 months and by then the full size jars will definitely be back in stock! I hope everyone understands and hopefully I didn't inconv
