Re: Just ordered ..

Hi Christine,
Welcome to the group. I am in my mid 20's and I still break out
terribly. Just this morning I woke up and the entire right side of
my face is full of extremely large blemishes. BE will def. help
with the redness and it will cover most of your scarring. Of course
you will still see the swelling of the blemishes but BE will help
make your skin tone look more smooth and clear. I promise you it
will help. WHen you start, def try and preconceal with your
foundation. I have to do that in the mornings to help with my
blemishes!

Awesome! Keep us posted!! Lisa =)
Susie <sszelich@...

Hi ladies, I just washed my face with the philosophy cleanser.

It cleans very well! I waited a few minutes before putting on the moisturizer, and my face felt a little tight. I have dry skin. For you gals with oily, or normal skin you would probably love it.

I applied the Philosophy, hope in a jar moisturizer, love it love it!

My skin is baby soft, not greasy feeling just fresh, clean feeling and soft. I have enough left to use tomorrow morning, to see how my minerals will look over it.

Hi Cristine! Welcome to the group!! Since Bare Minerals is 100% natural, it should work very well on your skin. This is the only makeup that doesn't cause me to break out. Every other makeup I've tried caused me to breakout even from just a few hours of wear. Not Bare Minerals! I hope that it does work for you and we are here for support! ;o) Once your kit arrives if you have any questions, just post. Thanks for joining, Lisa =)

smooth canvas to put your minerals on. I use it before putting on my
moisturizer. I believe Leslie said she uses it without the moisturizer.

I love my BE!!!!

2006-11-26 15:44:55

Well Ladies I have loved my BE since I got it a little over a month ago, but finally it was put to the test and passed with flying colors. I have a mild case of adult acne. I am getting married in October and started a new face cream to try and help my skin looks its best for the wedding. So I woke up today and looked in the mirror in horror. My face was swollen, dry and so red that I was contemplating calling into work sick. So I pulled out my kabuki brush and went to work. When I was done you couldnt even tell anything was wrong. (except for the swollen part) My face looked great!!! I was so happy. I am never going to use any other make-up ever again.

P.S is it just me or does anyone else have the urge to order one of everything from the BE collection. I have to control myself. I have a catalog and I circle everything I want and I think every page is circled. LOL!

Gig Harbor.

We lived there for awhile but then moved back to WI.

I have to say I miss the weather and how beautiful it is there... no mosquitos!!

Around here they're considered the state bird. :-(

I heard it was really hot there last week.. I hope it's not now.. I've been dreaming of 70*'s and no humidity!! :-)

Re: Michelle!!!

Michelle,
It has been miserable hot and way too humid in WA this summer! My
friends in Seattle say it has not been has hot there as down here
where I live by the Columbia River...but I think Dawn would argue!
Good news...it should be a little nicer this weekend, but reports
say we will heat up again next week.
My husband lived in WI when we got married, so I decided to move
there, too 8
the winter! The NW is so nice, even with this nasty hotness we have
been having. I am ready to put in a pool!
Have fun, Gig Harbor is so cool (no pun intended!).

2006-11-24 21:50:57

Hi there! Welcome to the group!! Are you sure you are using the right foundation for your skin tone? Do you have yellow undertones? You should definitely try the flocked sponge method for better coverage. Are you using Bisque first as a concealer? You can find flocked sponges at any beauty supply store (such as Sally's Beauty Supply). If you have any other questions, just ask. Thanks, Lisa
paulagtnlily <paulaGTn@...

I have been using Bare Minerals for about a week and need help. I have
tried 2 and 2.3 and have no coverage. Do I need something more like
Medium Beige? Where can I find a flocked makeup sponge suggested in the
file? I thought this application technique might help. Will Ice
Cream Man be of benefit? Thanks for your prompt response.

Well, after all the Burt's Bees talk yesterday, and the huge stash I
bought, I don't want to sound like a broken record, especially if you
can't find it locally...
Yesterday morning, just to the right of the tip of my nose...BLEMISH!
Lovely red devil, painful too. I covered it with Bisque and that worked.
Yesterday I bought Burt's Bees Parsley Blemish Repair with Willowbark (I
think that is the order of the name!)...rolled some on last night and
again this morning...and now it is GONE! It works, fast too. On their
website is a store locator.

One BE I couldn't live without

2006-11-22 01:22:38

If I had to choose only one thing it would be Multi tasking bisque.
If I had to pick top 3, then
1.the bisque
2. clear radiance
3. true
with those three things you could basically do your eyes, face and
lips. You would still need to use an eyeliner.
as far as eyeshadows I have to say celestine, vanilla sugar and sex
kitten.

I use Burt's bees lip balm because it's just fantastic. I am also

Burt's is an awsome line and really affordable.

Re: [naturallyflawless] Burt's Bees Question

Hi Donna,

I really like the Head to Toe Starter kit & the Natural Remedy kit.

Both give you a sample of quite a few products, so you can test them without spending a lot of money.

I especially like the Hand Salve, if you buy the full size it lasts forever..

I use that in conjunction with Ahava's hand cream (which I use all the time) during the winter. Those REALLY help my dry hands. :-)

Hope that helps. :-)

Any other recommendations for Burt's Bees stuff? I was cruising their

thinking of trying the face cleaners/toners...and especially the

our minerals! Just wondered if anyone has tried/loved anything else. It

Hi Amanda!! Welcome to the group!! We are glad to have ya! Don't worry about the application. It's not hard b/c you can't really mess up with BE. You just have to get use to how much or how little to use. That's probably the hardest part. Well and it's a tad messy at first. You'll get the hang of it rather quickly I'm sure. You have tons of great help here on this board! Oh and no, it doesn't take long to apply. It only takes me about 10 minutes to do my makeup in the morning. (10 minutes on days I wear a more "natural" look.) Lisa =)

i have very acne prone skin, i've even been on accutane, and i still
break out all the time. my skin is also extremely oily. i decided to
give BE a try because i've heard it's great for acne-prone skin. i am
just afraid that its going to be difficult to apply. i'm used to
using powder foundations from clinique, which always turn orangey on
me. i hate liquid foundations because i can never get them to look
right. i hope that with BE, i will find a happy medium. my only fear
is that i will apply it totally wrong. also, i'm a college student
and i don't have hours a day to put my makeup on...is it going to
take me forever to put on BE every morning? thanks in advance!

i have very acne prone skin, i've even been on accutane, and i still
break out all the time. my skin is also extremely oily. i decided to
give BE a try because i've heard it's great for acne-prone skin. i am
just afraid that its going to be difficult to apply. i'm used to
using powder foundations from clinique, which always turn orangey on
me. i hate liquid foundations because i can never get them to look
right. i hope that with BE, i will find a happy medium. my only fear
is that i will apply it totally wrong. also, i'm a college student
and i don't have hours a day to put my makeup on...is it going to
take me forever to put on BE every morning? thanks in advance!

Cupcake???

2006-11-17 18:49:48

It's an eye shadow. Well actually it's a glimpse (mix of a shadow and a glimmer). It is very pretty. It's a great shade foiled on on days where you are wearing more neutral makeup. =) It's a rosy gold with a peachy shimmer. Lisa
Ok..I can't find my catalog, and I don't see it on the site...you'll laugh...I ordered it because it looks pretty, but what do I use cupcake for??

Thanks for the info..

The more I thought about it I realized that I'm going to wear it regardless of if it makes me itchy or not.:-) The coverage is just too good.

Since it only bothers me when I'm hot/sweaty, I've decided I'm going to move to Siberia and quit working out.

Problem solved. ;-)

You do ship to Siberia, don't you???
Lisa Moore <lexismommy23@...

Hi Michelle! I'll put together a list of other uses later today. ;o) I thought it was the cornstarch making you gals itch. Hmm, most of the BE line has Bismuth Oxychloride (like Susie said), but that would only be the cause if your foundation is making you itchy too. If you aren't itchy from the BO, then I'm not sure what is in both Well Rested and Mineral Veil, but not the foundation. I'll look around and see if I can figure it out. ;o) Lisa
M Montrey <bbabmontret@...

Lisa,

I tried going without Mineral Veil the last couple of days and that seems to help.

Is there a similar ingredient in Well Rested?

I noticed, since I use that under and on my lids, that it still itched there.

Also, could you give me some other uses for Bisque, besides concealing.

One of the posts mentioned using it under their foundation?

thanks.

Michelle

I haven't ordered from Sue yet...but when I save up I am going to order from her!!!!

I am fixing to start working just a few hours a week at my friends tanning salon....YEA!!! extra makeup, and candle money!! LOL

Susie

LOL, did you order some from Sue? They are really awesome candles! The yankees I have I paid $20 for and Sue's are only $15. I love Yankees and don't buy anything else, but these are just as potent so now I'm a convert (is that the right word, LOL). They are great! I'm such a dork though. I got a set of votives from her and put them on a flat plate to burn! DUH!! They were gone in 10 minutes, LOL. Lisa
Susie <sszelich@...

I can't wait to try the candles too!! Just a bit broke now...:(

Susie

Great! That would be nice to have a Hair and Skin Care "connection". ;o) It's a pretty expensive set at $65, so I'm thinking if I can get just 4 or 5 people interested I'll go ahead and grab it. =)

LOL, I bet you are getting excited. I'm sending you my candles order right now. =) Gals these are the BEST candles! I bought 2 little 5 oz candles and some votives and liked them sooo much I burnt them all up in ONE week! Lisa
Sure Lisa, I'd do it...I'm lucky enough to have one daughter in Paul Mitchell for hair and my step son for skin care...so I'm soon to be "set" for skin care, but I would do the Philosophy "sample" pack...

You should see me getting ready to head to the Gold Canyon Candle conference w/ my cute little pink striped train case FULL of BE...

YAY Linda! ;o) What a great post!!! Thanks for this great info! I have bought green powder to dimish red spots, but I can't seem to get the hang of it. The area just looks bruised. I should have bought blue?? Thanks, Lisa =)
lindahagop <lindahagop@...

Hi!
Something my artist husband taught me years ago was that
complementary colors (the ones directly across the color wheel from
each other) neautralize one other. This principle works great for
make-up. Did you ever notice the rather funky-looking color pallates
in the "Physician's Formula" line of make-up? There's a reason!
For example, if you are trying to conceal "bluish" circles under
your eyes, put a "warm-yellow" (towards the orange side) on them
before you add foundation. If you have "reddish" areas, you want to
use a "cool-blue" (towards the blue side) under your foundation. Use
the concealing colors only on the areas of concern, or your face will
look like a patchwork quilt! Works like a charm! Over foundation, use
a little bit of one of the bisques - just a little to finish. That
will throw light back to the viewers' eyes. You'll have to try several
times before you get the hang of using "not-too-little, not-too-much"
of all the colors.
I am an older (50's) woman who's eye circles have really deepened
over the years. I cannot totally conceal them anymore, but can
diminish them a great deal. You younger ladies should be able to do
better at making them less noticable!
So grab some colors and experiment!

OOPS!!! Slight mistake!! I meant to say use a "cool-green" for reddish
areas. This would be a blue side of green. Sorry!!!

Aww Man----I am going to need a 12 step program!!
Dawn

my mom went to a ID store--

2006-11-12 02:30:08

My mom was at the mall of America and got a facial at the ID store---
supposedly to learn how to use it BUT the girl that did her facial wouldn't
give her any pointers (my mom was told when she made the appt. that they
would teach her a ton of things) (thank goodness we have Lisa!!!!!!)
but my mom bought quite a lot anyway----
anyhoo--what I really wanted to share is that the girl at the checkout was telling
her that they have a whole bunch of new colors coming out and some of them
were going to be foundation shades---- one was going a little bit lighter than fair (for people like me--ya know ghost white!!LOL)---
I wish they would come out with a lighter Bisque---if I don't mega blend it---it kinda shows through my foundation-----(cursed skin color!!)
Can't wait to find out what there is!!
Just thought I would share!!!

Re: [naturallyflawless] Eyeliner

2006-11-10 23:06:17

Here some better descriptions of the liner shadows. This might help you make your decision . . . .

BARK - smoky dark brown with green undertones

COFFEE BEAN - reddish brown

SOFT BLACK - color of off black pantyhose, LOL - dingy black

If you are use to dark brown and soft black I think you would be happy with any of the three. But maybe choose Bark over Coffee Bean? If you have more questions, just ask. ;o) Thanks, Lisa
kate katensale <girlygirl141414@...

I wanted to try some of the liner shadows, but I am not sure what color to use. I normally wear a dark brown and light black for eyeliner and I have dark brown hair. I was looking at the colors available and was trying to decide between Soft black, Coffee Bean, and Bark. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
kate katensale <girlygirl141414@...

Thanks Lisa! I will try rinsing my brushes out tonight.
Lisa Moore <lexismommy23@...

Hi Kate! This is what I do . . .

Here are some tips on how to keep my brushes in tip top shape, so
they will last longer. First, every brush goes through a shedding period. So if you are
using your expensive brushes and they are shedding, that's normal. What you will need:
your brushes
baby shampoo
toothbrush holder or mug
H20 (not hard water)
After a week of use, rinse the brushes with warm water until they
run clean. Make sure you are NOT using hard water. Hard water
damages brushes (just like it does your hair). If this is the
first time you are rinsing the brush, it may have brownish
colored water. That's normal, it's just the dye used in making
the brush rinsing out. Then dry the brushes with the bristles up
in the air. This is where the toothbrush holder or mug comes in.
Just stick your brushes in it and let them air dry. If you have
kabukis, just dry them on their ends with bristles in the air.
The next week, wash the brushes with Baby Shampoo and warm water.
It's extremely gentle and in my opinion is even better than brush
cleaners. Just put a little in your hand, lather it, and gently
work it into the bristles. Rinse it completely clean, then dry
with bristles in the air (using your toothbrush holder or mug ;o). Keep rotating rinsing/washing every other week. =) THIS IS ONLY MY SUGGESTIONS AND WHAT I DO. If you would prefer
you can actually rinse them 3 weeks a month and only wash them
w/the shampoo once a month. It's totally up to you and your
preferences. =)

HOPE THIS HELPS, LISA =)

kate katensale <girlygirl141414@...

I have a question for everyone. Since I have always put makeup on with a makeup sponge instead of brushes I have no idea how to take care of them. How often should I wash my brushes? I heard that if you don't wash your brushes often enough the oil from your face can get into the brush and cause you to break out. I have been using BE for about three weeks now and haven't washed my brushes. Now I am not sure if it's the heat or oil that has built up on my brushes, but my skin has been breaking out really bad. I have a mild case of adult acne (which BE covers perfectly) but now I am breaking out all over my face which I have never had happen before. I just noticed it this past week and I am thinking it may be the oil in my brushes. I wonder if I need to wash my brushes more often. Does anyone have any advice?
Lori Taylor <elkayetaylor@...

I LOVE my well rested!! It works WONDERS for your dark under-eye
area and does give a bit more coverage than bisque.

perfect timing, I'm on my way to the store right now.

Thanks!

Hey Sue! I forgot to tell you. Since you are taking your BE with you on your trip, you need to grab a pack of those round "sponge" looking circles for makeup removal from the beauty section at Walmart. They are disposable and cost about .99 cents. On your big jars when traveling put about 3 of those on top of the sifter under the lid. It will hold your minerals down under the sifter lid while your jar is being tossed around. For the mid-sizes jars you just have to cut the little circles to fit those. The little 10g sifter jars from will probably only take 1 of those little sponges. It may take you a few minutes to get all your jars set up, but you will be glad you did when you get back. Otherwise all of your minerals will pour on top of the sifter and it will take FOREVER to shake them back down. ;o) Lisa

I'm going there next week so I'd love to visit one if there were.

That's the only one I found when I looked too.
Lisa Moore <lexismommy23@...

Ok, there is the only one on the drugstore.com or beauty.com website. I'm not sure this is right??? I guess this one is more of an eye cream and you need mousturizer right? Let me know if this isn't right. . . .

Philosophy Hope in a tube . . .

Welcome to the wonderful world of UNDERSTATED glitters (glimmers)! ;o) I think we are all afraid of the "glittery" look. Re: Glee question

2006-11-08 07:54:32

Hey Dawn, I think you described Glee really well! I am looking
forward to Lisa's description.
Glee is not shimmery or glimmery. It does look dark in the jar, but
I have found that it seems to adapt to the complexion of whoever I
put it on. It is one of my favorite products, and like to use it
over a little Warmth when I just want a really natural look without
any 'sparkle'.
Stephanie
P.S. Who says it rains all the time in Oregon and Washington? Are
ya HOT, yet? YIKES!

Re: [naturallyflawless] Moisturizer , warmth and lipstick

2006-11-08 06:13:50

Hi and welcome to the group! ;o) Yes, you can use your normal mousturizer, but you need to give it 5-10 minutes to dry before applying your minerals. If you don't the minerals will "ball" up on your skin. Definitely give the Mineral Veil a shot on your nose. When you apply it first under your foundation, just sort of pat a bunch on don't blend or buff it. Just take a brush and lay it on. Then apply your foundation and the rest of your minerals as usual. No, you don't have to use a brush with an allover face color (such as Warmth) nor do you have to use an allover face color with a blush. You can use a blush alone if you'd like. Or you can use the face color alone, do whichever you are feeling when applying that day. ;o) When I use Warm Radiance (similar to Warmth just more sheer) I use one of the peachy pink blushes like Golden Gate or Dusk. Then on some days I just use my Warm Radiance, it's totally up to you. There are no rules with your Bare Minerals. You
can even use any products anywhere you want. =) Lipsticks . . . some of the lipsticks are cremes and some are pearls. One of the reasons you might not have been happy with Petal is b/c not only is it a pearl, but it's a sheer pearl. Of the ones that are on my website these are the cremes . . . .

Aida - deep intense pink (similar to raspberries)

Angora Rose - sheer rose over a plum undertone

Classic Red - rich red

Forest - warm russet red

Pecan - cool neutral mauve

**Serenity - neutral light beigey rose** (very pretty)

If there is one of the website that you think you'd like to try, but just can't imagine the color on. Send me the name and I'll put it on and snap a picture. ;o) That should help, LOL! If you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks, Lisa

paulagtnlily <paulaGTn@...

I'm new and have a 3 questions so far. Do I use my usual moisturizer
before applying foundation? I have problems with a shiny nose and will
try mineral veil first, but want to be sure of moisturizer.
Second, if I use warmth, is a blush necessary? Can I use only a blush
and still get good coverage and color?
Third, I got a sample of Petal and was diappointed at the coverage.
Are all the lipsticks frosts/pearl?
Thanks and reading previous posts has been helpful.

Re: STEPHANIE - concealer brush

I am also pretty sure it is the Mineral Veil making me itchy. How
can I be allergic to corn starch?? I feel like I am allergic to
EVERYTHING sometimes.
I have been doing "make-unders" on people. And also, I always hear
that I don't look my age, so instead of my usual, "My secret to
young looking skin is to gain five pounds a year" (no wrinkles, ya
know) I tell them it must be the minerals and give them your website
address!

Glee question

Please someone describe what Glee looks like????
Is it matte and a dusky rose color???
thanks

Celestine.......oh yeah

2006-11-07 05:27:04

I have never never bought any kind of shimmery eyeshadow because once upon
a time (a time before BE) I had read somewhere that anyone over 18 should never
wear frost/shimmer because it made you look old.....so it has always stuck in mind and never bought any....welllllll
I have Celestine and tried it but it never really showed up so this a.m. (5am) I was feeling quite adventurous so I wet it and put it on my lid!!
Can I just say WOWZA?????
It is such a nice neutral color that it looked great even for day wear!!!! I am alovin doin
the glimmer!!! Now talk about a combo--I put rose pearl on my browbone area and then black pearl in the crease !!!LOL and it looked good----
GOODBYE boring brown shadow----I am a BE girl now!!

I'm going to order the Hope In A Jar eye cream from Philosophy for all you gals who are having dry skin problems around your eye area. I've heard this stuff is THE BEST! So I'll order some tonight along with more Ice Cream Man. ;o) I'll put it up on the website as soon as it arrives. Lisa =)
M Montrey <bbabmontret@...

I know makeup artists sometime say to put some loose powder under your eye when you're putting eye makeup on. So if you do get some down there all you have to do is brush it away.

The only problem with that is I have exceptionally dry skin there so the Mineral Veil ends to make my "fine" lines :-) show up more than usual.

But it might work really well for everyone else though.

It's worth a shot. :-)

The mascara sounds really cool.

Hi Jade! Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the compliment! ;o) I know how anxious I get when I order new BE products, so I try to ship the same day or next day after you send payment. I try to stay on top of things around here. ;o) I hope you get your order plus free gift though. Some of these ebayer have terrible customer service! I buy a lot of Gymboree clothing on ebay for my daughter and I never get follow up emails or anything. Oh and I rarely even get an email telling the item has shipped. And receive it within a week . . . yeah right! LOL! No problem Jade, it was a pleasure doing business with ya! Lisa =)
Jade <rebekahn@...

Lisa, I am SO excited!! I got my sample of cupcake when I got home! You are a THOUSAND times better than what I have bought off of ebay! I bought a BE brush and paid for it on 7/15. She didn't mail my auction until 7/19 and then mailed it to a wrong address and it came back. She said she would reship it with a gift but I haven't seen it and that was Monday. But with you - WITH YOU, I ordered Sunday and it's already here! The packaging was very pretty and the color is gorgeous! I'm so glad I found this group and your site and can't wait to order more (when hubby is done yelling about how much money I've spent on makeup the past month!).

Thanks so much for a great transaction!

Girl you know I stay up ALL NIGHT!! I love Sex Kitten as a liner! I've been doing some research on the itchiness you experience in the extreme heat and I'm 90% sure it's the Mineral Veil. Next time you are going to be out all day skip the Mineral Veil. Let me know if you are still itchy. ;o) Lisa

Yes it's available on the Q for $15.00. It's on waitlist just now (I believe) and will probably be released either the August 4th show or their November show. I blink into it and then go back vertically and get all the lashes it missed when I blinked. If you find you're getting too much on your eyes at first, try wiping it off with a tissue before you apply it. It's a great product!

Re: [naturallyflawless] How do you organize your BE

Depends on your budget. You can buy a makeup case that is professional for about $120 (really nice from Coco Cosmetics) or you can spend $20 at walmart and pick up a tacklebox. It fits the minerals in it very nicely. The one people are getting is called The Plano.
