new user-what am I doing wrong?

2006-08-31 17:54:37

Hi. I just received my new starter kit and tried it immediately.
Well, it just doesn't cover my melasma at all. I thought the
concealer covered everything. I am so disappointed and am just
wondering if I am doing something wrong. I buffed and buffed. Just
don't see any difference what so ever! Help. Diana

Brushless Mascara?

OK...can someone tell me what brushless mascara is? This is something I
can't wrap my mind around this morning.
Hugs,

(Lisa.....still not here yet...but I'm hoping for today! I'll most likely
tackle the mailman soon!)

Update on LIPSTICK SAMPLES

2006-08-30 16:19:23

Ok ladies, the lipstick samples will be up by the end of the weekend. The samples are roughly 1/4 of a tube and are $4.49. They will come in one of the little 5g jars that you eyeshadow samples come in. You will have to use a lipbrush to apply them. I'm working on the 5 sample containers too. I will let you know what price they end up at. They won't be more than $20. The amount in the 5 sample containers is about 1/3 less than the regular samples. Oh and we are starting with 10 colors and I will gradually add more week by week. Talk to you all very soon! Lisa =)

Re: MYRA - Effective daily routine for acne prone skin . . .

2006-08-30 14:50:40

Lisa,
I used Ortho-Tricyclen before going to the patch and I didn't notice
weight gain but I did notice that it would make me upset to my
stomach for a few days each week when I escalated the dose (weeks 2
and 3). I tried a different BCP (birth control pill- sorry, I'm in
the medical field so I tend to use a bunch of medical abreviations,
I'll do my best to spell them out for everyone) that was made by
Novartis Pharmaceuticals, the product name escapes me at the moment,
which was easier on my tummy.
I started the BC patch about a year ago and really do like it. I'm
not a good pill person, I always forget to take them so the patch is
ideal for me. It stays in place, does not upset my stomach even
when I place the patch on my stomach/pelvis area, and I've not
noticed any weight gain or water retention. I've personally not
experienced any ill side effects but I have noticed that unlike BCPs
it not as easy to "skip" a period by putting another patch on at
week 4 like you can when you start a new batch of BCPs on the fourth
week. In other words you'll still have some breakthrough bleeding
when it's time for your period.
As an addendum on the side effects issue, I work in Pharmaceutical
research & development and I have learned from my years in the
medical field that ten people taking drug A may will without a doubt
have ten different experiences with it! Talk with your
gynecologist/internist/family physician and see if he/she can
provide you a sample to try. You might also consider trying the new
lower hormone version of Ortho Tricyclen, I would think it could
provide the same effectiveness with less of the side effects that
you experienced previously.
I hope that gave you some insight!

Re: Effective daily routine for acne prone skin . . .

2006-08-29 11:18:09

I have to be very careful with my face- in addition to oil and
breakouts (the birth control patch helps me with my breakouts- get
very VERY few now) I also tend to be allergic to many oily skin
cleansers that are on the market. I have come across a product that
I've been using for almost 2 years now and I thought I would share.
Aveeno makes a foaming cleanser called Clear Complexion Foaming
Cleanser. LOVE IT! My skin feels sooooo clean when I use it and
I've not yet broken out from using it (which is what I do when I'm
allergic to the product- doesn't that suck?!?!?!? Just what I
always needed, more breaking out!).
My personal experience is to use it every other day, otherwise I dry
out too much, especially in the winter.
I'm thinking of picking up some of the Pond's facial microabrasive
clothes to use when I'm traveling (the Aveeno tends to leak a
little)- has anyone had any experience with them?

Effective daily routine for acne prone skin . . .

2006-08-29 06:43:02

Hey Ladies! I was suppose to forward this information to one of the members for her son and I thought it might be of use to others too. I have terrible sensitive oily/dry acne prone skin and this routine has worked wonders for my skin. First let me say I used Proactiv for 3 years! 3 whole years. I was pretty happy with the clearness I gained from Proactiv but it made my face REALLY shiny, gross shiny not pretty BE shiny. ;o) So I was still searching for a new routine when I stumbled upon this. I have been using this routine for 2 months now and my skin is soooooooo much clearer than it was with the Proactiv even. No shine either. I don't even get large period zits either with this new routine either. I do still get a small breakout around that time of month, but they are small and go away rather quickly. Anyways, LOL, here's the info . . . .

website addy http://www.acne.org/ for all the info this guy has.

step by step instructions http://www.acne.org/regimen-instructions.html

The products I use are . . . .

--Purpose gently cleanser wash (from Walmart)

--Neutrogena On-the-Spot acne treatment (2.5% benzyl peroxide)

--100% natural facial serum made of Ingredients: hazelnut oil (Corylus avellana), rosehip seed oil (Rosa mosqueta), essential oils lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), sweet orange (Citrus sinensis), Eucalyptus dives

If anyone has any questions at all about anything, just ask me. Hope this helps someone as much as it has me. ;o) Lisa

Lisa,
I didn't order from eBay but was THRILLED with the service you
gave me (and my sissy)!! It was SO NICE of you to let us come over
and check out the samples and give us first class treatment with the
makeovers!! I LOVE my BE but am still trying to get used to it and
shorten my application time!! I was almost late for work this
morning trying to get it just PERFECT!! It is EASY to apply, just
different than the other foundations I have tried (MUCH better in
fact!!) Again, I LOVE my BE and the service I got from you was
A++++!!!! Let me know when the "hint" comes in.......Toodles!! Lori

I'm so pleased, but again, I ordered directly through the site.

THANK YOU to everyone!!

I've been sitting her working all night and keep glancing over at my sleeping daughter thinking about how blessed I am! I am so blessed to be able to stay at home and raise her. I could not imagine having to leave her everyday. I would have missed so much. I have had the pleasure of being right by her side for her very first everything; her first smile, the first time she rolled over, her first step, the first time she said momma, the first time she went potty, etc. It's truly amazing to watch your child grow up and I am so thankful to be able to be around for every minute of her beautiful life. I just wanted to take the time to tell you all THANK YOU and let you know how much I appreciate your business and continued support!! Especially when you order things that aren't in and such, everyone is always sooo patient and understanding. You are so wonderful! I couldn't have a better job! I love working with all of you! B/c of you I am able to give my daughter the
very best daycare around, her mother. ;o) THANK YOU!!!

I also wanted to share a picture of my darling baby girl. ;o) This is Alexis Faith, aka Lexi. She is 18 months (born Dec 17). This picture was taken today right before we left for a birthday party. Thank you for letting me share!!! Lisa

DONNA - Completely new...

2006-08-26 23:34:49

Hi Donna!! Welcome to the group! We are glad to have you! Ok, let's get you started so you can get your skin under control. ;o) I have crazy skin too and BE has worked wonders for me. I couldn't even wear makeup longer than a few short hours b/c of breakouts UNTIL Bare Minerals, now I can wear makeup every single day!! Ok, if you have pink undertones and are fair, you are going to want to start with #3 Medium foundation. A few things you want to purchase to start are . . .

foundation - #3 Medium

Bisque concealer

Mineral Veil (finishing powder)

Those three are the best products to start with to find out if you are going to like the makeup. From there you can explore into allover face colors, blushes, eye makeup, lipsticks, etc. =) If you have any questions at all, please email me. Thank you!! Lisa =)
Donna Conner <angel91805@...

....I'm so new, I haven't even purchased yet!
Hi! My name is Donna and I have just joined the group. I have seen a BE
infomercial, but didn't think much of it at the time. Other than it was
impressive. Hehe. A touch about me, before I start unloading the
questions....I'm 32, married for 6 yrs (though together 11), we have a 5
yo son, and two mutts. (Homer is a terrier/basset mix and Cinnamon is a
Lab/something-or-other mix...we do love to rescue the pound puppies!)
Now, at the glorious age of 32...either my face/neck is reacting to my new
shampoo/conditioner (3 months new!) or my hormones are doing a nasty
shift. (Which is entirely possible according to hubby!) Either way, my
cheek and the sides of my neck are completely broken out. Hence, the
seach online today for something....better. (I am getting new
shampoo/conditioner tomorrow as I have heard that Infusiom will clog the
pours. DARN!) I was thinking about trying that Proactiv system, then I
remembered BE. And here I am. I think I would much rather try out
smaller sizes first than go gung ho (which I normally do) and purchase the
whole full set and then not like it. Since the birth of my son, I now
have allergies (pollen/dust) and a wicked oily T-zone. I'm in El Paso, TX
where the weather now is in the 100's.
So....where do I start? I think (from using the files) that fair bases
would be best. I burn easily, have green eyes and blonde hair, the veins
you can see in my eyelids and wrists are blue-ish...so which bases would
work? And I have a definate pink undertone. (If I wear any shade of
yellow, I look ill!) Right now we are doing Oil of Olay skin care,
sometimes w/ MaryKay Timewise, and then MaryKay color, oh and there is
some Nuetorgena thrown in there for good measure. I am a mess. I went
for the neutral shades as I do not like pinks and blues on my cheeks/eyes.
It's more plums and browns for me, I think....HELP!
Hugs,
Donna

Two new tips (Clear Radiance uses & how 2 make eye makeup stay put)

2006-08-25 16:46:11

Hi Laura! Actually I don't think I ever did post that tip to the group. Thanks! I'll do that now. Actually I'll just do it right here. =)

HOW TO MAKE WET EYE MAKEUP STAY PUT . . . .

Visine makes wet shadows/glimmers and liners stay in place all day long. Generic or name brand both work. Contact solution also works (if you already have that). All you do is put a drop in the lip, dip your brush in the minerals, and make a paste in the Visine and apply as usual. Works great!

REMEMBER TO MAKE YOUR DRY EYE MAKEUP STAY PUT . . .

dust Bisque all over the area before applying anything else.

OTHER CLEAR RADIANCE USES . . .

You can also use Clear Radiance under your makeup. Put it on very first. And I use Clear Radiance on my lips. I usely line my lips with a Nude liner. Then put True over that. Then put Clear Radiance on the middle of my bottom lip for a "pouty" look. =) I have decided that Clear Radiance is my FAVORIATE product. I use it everywhere! Oh, just thought of another place. When I wear shirt that show my collarbones or shoulders, I dust it across those areas. I also use it on the inside corner of my eyes sometimes for that "pop". Lisa =)

Re: [naturallyflawless] Digest Number 36

2006-08-25 10:16:54

I was wondering...have you ever posted the "Visine"
tip? I used some Visine like you said and my
eyeshadow remained sparkly all day as when I put it on
in the morning. Great idea!
Also, anyone have any tips for using Clear Radiance
other than the usual things? I have been using it on
my eyes and all over my face. I really like it!
Laura

How is everyone? It's been pretty quiet the last few days. I just moved about two weeks ago and have been trying to get everything unpacked. That's why I haven't been too active on here. I've been working on the lipsticks. They should be up this week hopefully. I have about 10 shades to start off with. I will slowly add more. ;o) The June drawing is still going on. Every time you place an order, your name is going into the pot. Sometime this week I will get a list of the prizes out to you all. I have decided to give away two of the darling travel bags. I also have tried the mineral veil, then foundation, then mineral veil and my face still gets oily and my makeup comes off. Though today, I put toner on my face first, then I used this oil mattifier from Mary Kay, then I put the foundation (BE) on, then I put some loose powder over it from Neutrogena (barely dusted it on there in place on the mineral veil) and it is almost 5:00 and my makeup still looks great. Stayed on my face all day.

Hi Stephanie! Thanks for sharing this tip! I want to try it!! ;o) How do I put my Warmth where the brow is? Do I put it allow the top of my eye brows on my forehead or do you mean along the brow bones under your eye brows? I'm out of it tonight and want to be sure before I make myself look crazy, LOL! Thanks, Lisa =)
Stephanie <dezmosgirl@...

Did anyone watch the new "What Not To Wear" Friday night? I stole a
tip from Carmondy (makeup artist). She put bronzer over the brow
then down around along the cheekbones and then applied a blush on
the apple of the cheeks. I tried that this morning with Warmth from
my brow down along (where I should have) cheekbones and then a
little Glee on the apples of my cheeks. OOH! I looked FABULOUS!!
It gave me cheekbones and made me look like I have a little
less 'apple', if ya know what I mean!

the apple of the cheeks. I tried that this morning with Warmth from
my brow down along (where I should have) cheekbones and then a
little Glee on the apples of my cheeks. OOH! I looked FABULOUS!!
It gave me cheekbones and made me look like I have a little
less 'apple', if ya know what I mean!

SUE - The wish kit is great!

2006-08-23 03:00:15

Aah, thank you Sue! Hey I found generic uncoated aspirin yesterday at Walgreen's. Do you have one of those? They were .99 cents for 100 aspirin. No more Bayer tattoos, YAY! Lisa ;o)
I also totallylove the wish kit...I'm still waiting for my full kit from BE, but Lisa's is so fast, and I love this one!

as strong as warmth. Good kit, fast shipping! Thanks Lisa!

Re: [naturallyflawless] How about some eyeshadow application tips?

2006-08-22 06:52:19

Hi Laura! I apply both wet and dry and for me neither requires less blending. I use quite a few colors at once though. I'm probably the worst person to give advice if you are impatient ;o) b/c my eyes take the longest. But here is my routine anyways . . . .

1. apply Bisque all over my lid up to brow and under my eyes

2. apply my lid color

3. apply my accent shade in the "V" and right against my lashes on top and bottom

4. apply brow bone highlighter shade

5. apply inner eye "pop" color

6. take a kabuki brush with Clear Radiance and blend, blend, blend

7. brush (using eye shadow brush) Clear Radiance under my eyes too

8. apply clear mascara to brows

9. apply mascara to lashes and finally done ;o)

This sounds really long, but since I do it daily it only takes about 5 minutes. This is probably way more than you wanted to know. ;o) If I use my shadows wet, I do the exact same step as above, but I wait for them to dry before blending.

I have found that if you use a kabuki to blend it takes far less time. If my shadow ends up being too intense I use some foundation to tone it down a little. Sometimes I like to play and the colors end up way too dark. ;o) Hopefully some others will post about this so you can get more opinions. Hope this helps a little. Lisa =)
BabaTheLamb <babathelamb@...

I am really bad and impatient with blending. Do you all think it's
better to apply the color wet or dry? I have been experimenting
with applying it wet and then smudging it once it's dry. I have
found that BY FAR this is the easiest eyeshadow to blend.

Aspirin Mask Instructions (repost)

2006-08-21 18:08:51

Hi Kyann! Just in case you didn't find it. Lisa ;o)

All it is is just 5 or 6 uncoated generic aspirins, mix them with just enough water to dissolve them, making a paste-about a tablespoon or so. Then you put it on your face like a mask and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Then rinse off. And wha-la beautiful skin. Ok everyone go TRY IT! LOL!

Lisa made a post on June 7th about crushing aspirin up with a little
water and smearing the paste on your face. (See her "RAVE, RAVE"
post) I worked the paste into my face and let it sit 10 minutes and
splashed it off. Try it you will love it!

EVERYONE HAS TO TRY THIS!!!!!!! RAVE, RAVE, RAVE!!!

2006-08-20 05:15:39

Ok, if you are looking for a cheap "miracle" product for . . .

evening skin tone, clearing up skin, mousturizing skin, minimize pores, making skin less oily or just overall making your skin look fantastic AND you are NOT allergic to Aspirin read on . . .

This is crazy! Has anyone ever heard of an Aspirin mask? Some of you wise women (men) may have heard of these, but I hadn't! I cannot believe how wonderful this mask is!

My skin is super sensitive, acne-prone, dry and flaky allover and oily in the t-zone. This mask has worked wonders for my skin so far. It's so darned cheap, you have to try it! My pores look smaller and my skin feels soooo smooth! This is definitely going to be a weekly staple for me. Ok everyone go TRY IT! LOL!

Oh and just so you know I'm not the only one that loves it, www.makeupalley.com has a board for product reviews and of 148 women who reviewed the Aspirin Mask, 91% of them liked it. ;o) Is that convincing enough? =) Thanks for letting me share! Please let me know if you try this, I would love to know how it worked for you. Thanks, Lisa =)

now. It never stays on my face for long and I have noticed it is

[LAURA] any suggestions on eye shadow/shimmer colors for me?

2006-08-19 13:22:54

LOL, I just sent you a long e-mail with about 7 or 8 color suggestions. They were all in the brown family though. I didn't want to overwhelm you with too many colors, so if you want to try another color (like the golden greens) just let me know. I'm really LOVE the golden greens and golden browns. I'm the opposite of you (I have pink undertones), but I really prefer the warmer eye colors on me. =)

I was the one who asked about Philosophy. Thanks for the info! Everyone that I know that has tried it is hooked. I'm going to e-mail their CS and ask for a catalog. I've heard they send pretty many samples with it. I want to be sure I could use it on my ultra sensitive skin before spending the $$ on it. =)

Thanks Laura! Talk to you soon! Lisa

Hi all. I am a 1.2/2.0 base, blue eyes, light brown hair w/ blonde
streaks. Any suggestions on eye colors? Any "must have" colors
that you guys have found? I already use A.P. Bisque as a base,
vanilla sugar, liberty, never too rich brown and soft black for
lining. I tend to gravitate towards earth tones and I hate reddish-
pinks...they just look terrible on me. I also just ordered
the "wish" sample kit from Lisa so I will have those 2 eyeshadows

I have been putting an orde together, but I can't find just the

Cush stuff :)

2006-08-18 13:25:17

hey all!
I have been using the Cush line for MANY years....it is the only thing that
helped me deal with my acne! As far as procedures to go about...
1. CLEAN! Clean your face with the Seaweed Cleanser but do NOT use a
regular washcloth...try usin the cloth that BE has if you can afford it or
use hands...do NOT use a regular washcloth...do not!! The problem with most
wash cloths is they can be harsh on face skin (which is very sensitive
compared to the body)...it can scratch it up and cause mroe wrinkles...
2. TONE! This removes all the rest of the stuff that ya missed with
cleansing...The Equilibrium helps with this!
3. MOISTURIZE! This is imporatant to help keep your skin soft...and will
help with hte wrinkle production....
now onto notes about above...do these between steps 1 and 2 above...
*1. I exfoliate 3-4 times a week with the exfoliate they have to just remove
all my dead skin cuz that can build up and cause probs in the future! (If
your husbands/Boyfriends have trouble shaving, try havin them exfoliate 1st!
It helps!) This is also done good on dry skin! Do NOT use the liquid
Loofah to exfoliate...the round parts of the Cush exfoliant are better...the
liquid loofah has some sharp edges that can cause more scrapes and can cause
probs in the future...
*2. I mask once a week...switchin between Cush Deep Cleansing and the ID
one...they both will help clean up major things you cant easily unpack while
cleanin!
*3. Moisturizers...the Cush one is GREAT for night, while the Rose and Tea
Tree (Daily Essentials) is good for day...for VERY oily skins, use the oil
free moisturizer...
*4. the Time Life Peeling Seerum...works great as a way to help with
wrinkles on my mother...but be sure to use Sunscreen when using it! Your
skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight when using it...I suggest using
WISDOM before applyin your BE foundation...
I'd write more but I've had a long day and I have a client ain about a 1/2
hr....
Talk to you soon!

want one, you better grab it! ;o) If you have any questions about
the products, just ask. Talk to you soon! Lisa =)

under eye circles again

2006-08-16 13:40:34

Wanted to say thanks to Drew for mentioning other eye shadows for
concealing. I have very fair skin , with a yellow undertone. Using
fairly light as it matches about perfect but when I used bisque, it
just looked a bit odd. It worked, but something was off...so after
reading your reply to another member...I grabbed SOUL eye color
which happens to be like the color of french vanilla ice cream. A
yellow undertone and lighter than my foundation. IT WORKS. Or at
least I think it does....I'm still half asleep....LOL.
But, I was noticing that using bisque all over my eye area , I still
looked tired...know what I mean? I have very deep set eyes, so I am
loaded with shadows and that Welsh complexion that is often sickly
looking...LOL. So, the Glee and the Radiance are fabulous to give me
a great lift....no blush needed! Must be that the pink undertone in
the Bisque is not blending well with my yellow tones? This whole
thing confuses me as I cannot wear warm colored makeup, blush ,lips
etc as they make me look sick....So, all other makeup is in cool
tones....can anyone explain this? or am I just a wierd case?
Would also appreciate any tips for aging skin...wrinkles in eye area
etc. OH and I didn't try the summer bisque ( yellow tones) because
it's darker than my foundation. Comments or help is greatly
appreciated.

try the foundation you have on the 1st.
As far as concealer, id need to see your face but there are a few eye
shadows that i use on clients who are African American and id be more then
glad to help you find one. Lisa may even have one of them on her fabulous
site :)
I think i have an older video that Leslie released that has an African
American person in it. I will check on it and make you a copy if it if
you'd like :)
Oka, I just got finished a client and I need to go clean my brushes but i'll

Re: [naturallyflawless] Kit questions

2006-08-14 22:25:09

I've just ordered some items from here, but am still debating back and forth, etc about the kits...I went online to the infomercial site area and I was interested in either the kit w/ the extra stuff...i.e. Glee, radiant, etc or the one w/ eye shadow as well...but

1. do you all use the extra ones, and (i.e. true, glee and clear radiance)

2. I have green, green eyes and usually use plums, etc. (I ordered Pacific Heights from this site) and the eye shadows w/ the kit come w/ browns...does anyone have them? Are they really brown or pretty neutral..

Thanks in advance.

Re: [naturallyflawless] New User

2006-08-14 21:36:54

Hi Michele! Welcome to the group!!! Bare Minerals products are suppose to make you look like you have no makeup on, but make you look like you have perfect naturally flawless skin! That's why you can't "see" them really well. ;o)

The cleanest way to apply foundation . . .

Are you using too much in the lid? Also try keeping a towel under your jars while you are learning to be less messy. ;o) I flip the jar over, shake a little, flip it back over, tap the lid, twist off the lid, dip my brush into the side with the sifter, and swirl it around in the lid, tap off on the edge of the lid. If it's making a really big mess, you are probably using too much product at one time. You want to remember to work in thin layers b/c it will make your minerals apply better and be less messy! ;o)

Concealer . . . Definitely don't use the Mineral Veil as a concealer b/c it's transculent so it won't conceal anything. Try using you foundation. If you need a more opaque color, try applying it wet. Just use a small eye shadow type brush, get it wet, dab a little foundation in the lid and make sort of a paste and apply it that way. That should help a lot. If you need further help, just ask! =)

Hope this helps! If you have other questions or if I didn't answer something, just ask. Thanks, Lisa =)

Hello All!
I am new to bareMinerals. I ordered from the infomercial on t.v. I
just rec'd my kit last week and I am still very much in the novice
state.
From what I have been reading in this group, many of you use other
bareMineral products, like the Bisque and the lipstick, but as of now
I only have the foundation, warmth, and mineral veil.
I am black and I have a dark complexion (think a little lighter than
Denzel Washington).
I am not sure if I am using the products correctly. This may seem
strange, but I think my skin looks better after I have applied the
product, but I can't really see it - it's hard for me to explain. I
did get a compliment on my skin from a co-worker this morning, so
maybe she is seeing something that I am not seeing.
I have the following questions:
1) What is the easiest, cleanest, neatest way to get the foundation
from the container to your face? I seem to make a mess everytime I
put the foundation on?
2) What am I supposed to use as my "concealer?" I have the deep and
the dark shades of foundation. Or do I use the mineral veil?
Please help!

sounds good. i also wanted to suggest offering customized lipstick palettes, which would mean you'd have to get empty palettes like http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P50107&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S5400 (i'm sure something similar could be found cheaper at a beauty supply store, right?) and the buyer would specify what colors she wanted and you'd fill the palette. am i making sense? i don't know if that's too much work or if others would be interested. just a thought.

packaging for LIPSTICK on website . . .

2006-08-13 11:41:58

Ok everyone! Lipsticks samples will be on the website. Enough
people responded. =) I wanted to run the packaging by you, just to
make sure everyone is comfortable with it. The lipstick samples
would come in the little 5g jars that your eye shadow/glimmer
samples come in from me. (Or if you purchased one of the kits off e-
bay, all of your samples came in this size.) Then each sample would
also come with a little lipstick brush (I'm pretty sure I can find
these). What do you think? Of course, I would cut the lipsticks
with a clean, sterilized knife and the jars are brand new and unused
as always. ;o) Just let me know and I'll get started right away.
Thanks, Lisa =)

RE: [naturallyflawless] I met two of our group members in person!

2006-08-13 05:52:58

Lisa,

Yesterday was my family reunion and I just had to tell you what happened. I had been telling my sister Who hates makeup about the BE products and how much I love them. Of course, it didn't mean a thing to her. However, yesterday when I went over and sat next to her to visit, she looked at me and asked me if I had makeup on. I told her of course, I was wearing my Bare Minerals that I had been telling her about. She was shocked. She said it didn't even look like I had makeup on, just perfect skin. She told me that she wants to here more about it and where to get it from. She is dealing with the same brown patches on her face that all of the women in our family have. Only you can't see mine! She lives in Centerville, Ohio and I am going to try to get you guys together sometime for a make over. She is really interested and she isn't afraid to spend money!!!

RE: [naturallyflawless] Would you like Lipstick samples to be on the site?

2006-08-13 02:50:24

Lisa,

A great big YES from me. You know my problems with lipstick from prvious discussions. I took a chance and ordered 2 lipsticks and ended up really liking them, but would LOVE to try different shades without having to purchase the whole $15 tube. I hope lots of others want this as well!!!

We could do a makeover or we could just do lunch! Just wanted to
share, thanks for listening!! Lisa =)

Re: [naturallyflawless] My experience with Biaque and the minerals...

2006-08-12 05:14:06

Hi Drew! I'm so glad BE has cleared your skin! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Lisa =)
"Drew B." <JupiterBoy80@...

Just thought i'd share with ya'll about my experience on getting into BE :o)
When i was 12/13 and starting my teen years, i broke out to the max. I
looked awful!! I did not even like to look in the mirror. I tried every
single cleanser i could find, every kind of makeup i could find...but i
would find the cleansers would leave me WAY to dry *even with moisturizing*
or WAY to oily *and you know what oil does to acne* and the makeup would
either make me look painted up or it didnt cover. I was a young kid in a
small Catholic school in a small town. You can guess what wearing makeup
did for me. I eventually gave up and said to myself i'd hafta live like
this. Then my friend took me to a BE store because she got a gift
certificate for the store from her grandmother in SF to use when she went to
visit her. Fortuanately, we lived about a 1/2 hr from the store and we
decided to go check it out. I had never heard of them before...I was only a
mid to late teen and didnt drive much cuz I didnt have many friends. We
thought that it was a lingerie store. So we went up...well we certainly
found out it was very different.
The staff was nothing but kind and gentle with us, and so i asked one if the
stuff was gunna be able to cover ANY of my acne cuz i needed all the help i
could get. She sat me down, gave me a makeover, and WOW! It covered it
all! She then showed me the Cush line of products and told me they would
work for it. I didnt really believe it but i said i'd try.
I took the stuff home and tried it out for a week...things starting
disappearing. I even wore the BE colors to school (foundation, warmth, min
veil) and no one knew!! Then i tried for another few weeks and it was ALL
GONE! I was soooo excited. Thats when i went to school one day not wearing
the foundation and my girl friend who had helped me discover the line was
like "You really know how to do that makeup cuz i cant see anything" and i
was like "IM NOT WEARING ANY!! YAY!" She literally fell on the floor
wondering why it was this way. I was like "it must be the natural thing"
I went to the dr and asked her advice and she was like "You must have really
sensitive skin so its good you found an all natural brand you can use that
actually keeps your skin like this." She then told me to keep up with the
cleanser, toner, exfoliator, etc. but to also use a sunscreen of SPF 15...i
was like thinking to myself that my foundation had that.
So in that case...I had found a line that has cleared up my skin and kept it
clear!! YAY!
On using Bisque...I just swirl around with my BE concealer brush, tap, and
buff it on to get rid of dark circles or my birthmark (a small mole on my
chin)...and my skin is sensitive so all you sensitive skins out there, this
will be fine for you! its funny someone mentioned Sephora...you know they
carry BE online now? Some stores will be gettin it into their stores
soon...are any of you near a Sephora?
Oka, enough babbling...anyone want me to post a message about Cush? I saw a
request...wanna make sure everyone wants it!
Talk to ya'll soon!

Would you like Lipstick samples to be on the site?

2006-08-12 04:40:01

Hi everyone! I know it's a holiday weekend and I may have to repost
this Tuesday to make sure I get everyone's response. ;o) I was
wondering if you would be interested in having lipstick samples on
the website? I know it's really hard to buy a $15 tube of lipstick
and "hope" that it will work for you. I think Lipstick samples
would be great, but I just wanted to be sure everyone else
did! ;o) Please let me know! Thanks, Lisa =)

under eye circles and Bisque, sensitive skin, part II

2006-08-11 12:18:38

Hi all, sorry I was out of the country in Cozumel, Mexico for about
a week and that's why I didn't answer any questions regarding my
Bisque usage and sensitive skin issues.
I apply Bisque (dry) before I do anything else under my eyes. I use
a sort of flat, spread out kind of brush. Not a fan type but it's
officially called a "concealer brush" by Sephora (where I bought
it). I basically just use paint strokes until all my darkness is
covered. Then I proceed as normal with my foundation, avoiding
getting too close to my eyes.
I had perpetual breakouts and red irritation (similar to an allergic
patch or sunburn) all over my face. I kept switching among various
liquid base brands hoping the breakouts and allergic reactions would
stop. They finally stopped about a week after I started using B.E.
I still get a few "time of the month" pimples, but usually only one
or two and very small. Alas, if only B.E. could sink in and soothe
my hormones! Ha ha!
I am also very lazy about removing my makeup before bed. I remove
it maybe 60% of the time. B.E. is also good for lazy people who
just want to dive into bed when they get home from a hard day at
work (I work overnight so I run home to try to be asleep before the
sun comes up).
Love those minerals! Keep up the good tips and info swapping!

Re: [naturallyflawless] how to apply eye shadow

2006-08-10 10:08:14

Hi Mimi! The eye shadows are made from pure minerals too. The shadows, glimmers, liners, blushes, pretty much everything except the lip products are made from 100% pure minerals. You do use the swirl, tap, buff method. All of the shadows and glimmers go on sheer. You have to build layers for a more dramatic effect. If you prefer more noticeable color, you can wear the shadows/glimmers/liners wet. I wear all of mine wet b/c I like to accencuate my eyes. ;o) Lisa
Mimi Kim <mkim607@...

For applying eye shadow, do you still do the swirl tap buff?

are the eye shadows made from minerals too?

How to wash your brushes . . .

2006-08-09 20:06:26

Hi Ladies! Here are some tips on how to keep my brushes in tip top shape, so they will last longer.

First, every brush goes through a shedding period. So if you are using your expensive brushes and they are shedding, that's normal.

What you will need:

your brushes

baby shampoo

toothbrush holder

H20 (not hard water)

After a week of use, rinse the brushes with warm water until they run clean. Make sure you are NOT using hard water. Hard water damages brushes (just like it does your hair). If this is the first time you are rinsing the brush, it may have brownish colored water. That's normal, it's just the dye used in making the brush rinsing out. Then dry the brushes with the bristles up in the air. This is where the toothbrush holder comes in. Just stick your brushes it and let them air dry. If you have kabukis, just dry them on their ends.

The next week, wash the brushes with Baby Shampoo and warm water. It's extremely gentle and in my opinion is even better than brush cleaners. Just put a little in your hand, lather it, and gently work it into the bristles. Rinse it completely clean, then dry with bristles in the air (using your toothbrush holder ;o).

Keep rotating rinsing/washing every other week. =)

Re: [naturallyflawless] bisque and color question

2006-08-09 14:51:48

Hi there! Summer Bisque does have yellow undertones, so you probably want to try it instead. It's a tad darker. It's about the color of #2 Light. I use seperate brushes for everything b/c like you I don't want my Mineral Veil turning brown or my foudations turning pink, etc. I only rinse my brushes once a week and wash them once every two weeks. So basically every other week I just rinse them clean. Then every other week I wash them. I'm not sure what you are using right now to wash your brushes, but Baby Shampoo is the best! Also try not to use hard water. Lastly try to dry them with the bristles up in the air. I'm going to post a seperate more in-depth post about this. ;o) Lisa
phantasia_000 <amyr@...

I am using fairly light....and started bisque today for dark
circles..and it seems to be working great. My question is...since I
have yellow undertones , and the bisque has rosy undertones...should
I actually be using summer bisque or is alot darker?
Also wondered how often you guys are washing your brushes and if we
really need to have separate brushes for each function so we don't
mix. On the video , Leslie seems to be using the same brush , but
that would mean warmth and veil and everything gets mixed...not a
good idea in my book...LOL. Yet, I dont' want to be washing a whole
set of brushes daily...am I lazy or practical?

Re: [naturallyflawless] clueless!

2006-08-09 01:10:13

Hi Juli! Welcome to the group!! You only need to mix the foundations if one shade by itself does not match your skin tone. The great thing about Bare Minerals makeup is you can't mess it up. You can really put the products on in any order you want, so after you get use to this way below play around with it and figure out what works best for you. ;o) Ok, here is the order I put the products on in (I don't know what's in your kit, so I'll cover my whole face). . .

1. eye shadows (I do my eyes first so I don't have to worry about making a mess of the rest of my makeup b/c of the minerals that fall down off my eyes)

2. Bisque to conceal whatever needs concealing

3. foundation

4. allover face color

5. blush (if I'm using blush w/my allover face color)

6. Mineral veil to finish it all off

7. Clear Radiance

8. mascara

9. lips

It's really all up to you though. Some people use Bisque after they put their foundation on. Some use Mineral Veil very first. Some use Clear Radiance very first. It's truly up to you. Do whatever works best for you. My list above is just a good starting point for you. =) Oh and go look on my website, www.naturallyflawless.com under APPLICATION TIPS and that gives you the order too. Let us know if you need any help at all. Talk to you soon! Lisa =)

order? I have roseacea and have really red cheeks. I saw on t.v.

i can see the difference! they look good. groomed eyebrows make a face look SOOO much better.

eye brow pics

2006-08-07 19:43:00

Hi everyone! Sorry it took me so long to get these out today. We are running late, as always. ;o) Ok, it's pretty hard to see the difference in these pictures b/c of my sunken temples. The picture on top is before the kit. If you look at my right (your right) eyebrow, it looks like I shaved half of it off. It stops dead right where you can't see it anymore. The bottom picture is after the brow kit. It's kind of hard to see in these pictures, but the right (your right) "shaved" eyebrow is now a whole eyebrow. The color I bought is a tad too light for me, but it works for now. ;o) Plus when you see my whole face the difference is much more noticeable. They look more uniform and shapely. I love them now! Before I was always self-conscious about the "shaved" eyebrow. I thought that eye always look surprised, LOL! I'm going to an outside picnic today with lots of family members, I'll let you know if anyone notices. I think they look really natural, but the
family will be the test. ;o) Talk to you soon! Lisa

Lisa,

Yes, PLEASE post the eyebrow pics. I had a complete hysterectomy 8 years ago and lost a lot of eyebrows plus all the hair on my arms and leg. The arms and legs were a blessing, but not the brows! Are you going to have the stencils on your website?

Have you received the Kabuki that I sent you back yet? Do you have my stuff ready to send out tomorrow? I wanted to add a full jar of Clear Radiance to it. So it will be full jars of:

Clear Radiance

Bisque

Mineral Viel

Luxury Kabuki Brush

Do you just want to taje the $15 credit (for the other brush) off and then send me an invoice through Paypal? Let me know how you want to do it. I can't wait to get the stuff!

shapely eyebrows b/c of kit - anyone want to see pic?

Hi all! Ok, I found some eye brow stencils and have used the eye brow kit two days in a row now. What a huge difference! I have short (meaning they don't go out to the edge of my eyes) eye brows and one of them looks like I shaved half of it off. LOL! The brow kits gives me the beautiful shapely eye brows that I've always dreamed of. If you Ladies are interested, I'll post a picture tomorrow. Just let me know and I'll snap a shot on our way to the picnic. =) I'll make sure to do a before and after. Lisa
